??? (type)
- ??? redirects here. If you are looking for other uses of question marks in the Pokémon games, please see this article.
Template:ElementalTypes The ??? type, unlike the Bird type, is a non-Glitch element type in existence from Generation I onward. However, the only Pokémon ever to bear it is Arceus in the Unknown Form, other then that, only to particular moves. When a bad egg occurs, it will also be this type.

Curse
Introduced in Pokémon Gold and Silver, Curse is an attack with the ???-type.
Curse is an attack that behaves differently depending on the element type of the Pokémon using it, more specifically, whether or not the Pokémon is of the Ghost type.
Shadow moves
Shadow moves are another kind of Pokémon attacks with the type ???.
In Pokémon Colosseum, Shadow Pokémon have the move Shadow Rush until they are purified. In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, more Shadow moves are introduced. Starting in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, these moves are super-effective against regular Pokémon and not very effective against other Shadow Pokémon.
The ???-type does not run exclusively off of the Pokémon's attack stat or special attack stat. This differs from one attack to another.
Arceus
Arceus's Multi-Type ability allows it to change types based on which plate it holds. Although there is no known plate that will make it an ???-type, the code for Diamond and Pearl has a sprite for ???-type Arceus.
