Pokémon Dream World

The Pokémon Dream World (Japanese: ポケモンドリームワールド Pokémon Dream World) is a special feature of Pokémon Black and White. Operated via the Pokémon Global Link website, the Dream World allows players to send a Pokémon to the internet to obtain items and meet other Pokémon, making the website like a Generation V analog to the Pokéwalker.

Access

Fans may access the Dream World by creating an account at the Pokémon Daisuki Club website, which is currently available only in Japanese. To have full access to one's account, players must first send a Pokémon to the Dream World by using their C-Gear's only Wi-Fi feature, Game Sync. After doing so, players may now have full access to the Global Link site. An account may only have one Pokémon Black and one Pokémon White game with access to it.

When doing certain actions for the first time, players are given a tutorial by Makomo. They may then explore the rest of the Dream World on their own.

Due to the amount of people accessing the site at one time, players are currently given only one hour to access the Dream World a day. They may enter the Dream World again 24 hours after when they have entered. However, the website may occasionally be under maintenance, prohibiting access. Additionally, Pokémon may not be sent to the Dream World through Black or White during this time.

Viewing the Friend Board

Players are given a home they could customize in the Dream World. With the use of certain berries, they may purchase furniture to decorate the rooms available in the house. The house itself may be remodeled for a certain amount of berries. Everyday, players may also unlock one of up to five special pieces of furniture by talking to a designer in Shippou City.

Also available in the house is a treasure chest, where players may see the items they have in the Dream World and choose which ones they would like to send back to their games. A Friend Board is also available for players to see which Pokémon they have befriended in the Dream World and which ones are waiting to be sent to their Pokémon Black or White games.

The castle

Everything from the Ordinary Watering Can up to the Red-roofed House are found when first entering the Dream World. The Pokémon Desk and Chair, Colorful Pot Plant, Attract Mat and Ball Poster are unlocked in Shippou City. An file of a castle's image was found with the three houses, indicating that it may be accessed through some unknown way.

Berry field

Unlike past generation games, Black and White do not allow players to plant berries. Instead, players may plant berries in the Dream World in the berry plot found in the area to the left of their home in the Dream World. Two rows are available from the beginning for players to plant their berries in, with each row allowing players to plant up to three berries. Subsequent rows will be dug by Diglett after players have earned a certain amount of Dream Points.

Berries and other items are found throughout the Dream Island. They may either be sent to the player's games, be traded to Dream World neighbors or be used to buy furniture.

Sharing Shelves

To the right of the player's home is a stand where items may be placed. Items placed here can be taken by neighbors and traded for their items.

Arriving at the Dream Tree

While players may access the other features of the Dream World even when they do not have a Pokémon in the Dream World, they may access the Dream Island only when they do have a Pokémon in the Dream World. They island has several areas players may explore, find items and befriend Pokémon. More areas are unlocked as players obtain Dream Points. After exploring an area, players will go to the Dream Tree, where they may either choose a befriended Pokémon to send to their games or go to another area or the same area to befriend more Pokémon or find more items. However, if players have offered a berry and chosen a Pokémon to send, they may only come back to the Dream Island the next day.

Mini-games

After finding a Pokémon, players are given an option to participate in mini-games in order to befriend them. Getting certain amounts of points in a game allows players to obtain Pokémon with moves not normally obtained by leveling up.

Many Pokémon that are found in the Dream Island are not found in the Isshu region, and would otherwise have to be migrated from a Generation IV game to be used. Almost all Pokémon are given Dream World-exclusive abilities that their species cannot have by normal means. Some Pokémon do not have Dream World-exclusive abilities because they are dependent on their ability, such as Slaking, Shedinja, Castform, Plusle, Minun, Arceus, and many Pokémon with Levitate; however, they may still be encountered here.

Breeding mechanics

Female Pokémon with Dream World abilities can pass on the Dream World ability to their offspring. Ditto count as male for this purpose. For example, if a female Hihidaruma with Daruma Mode bred with a male Yanakkie, the offspring Darumakka may have Inner Focus instead of the usual Hustle and would evolve into a Hihidaruma with Daruma Mode, instead of Brute Force. However, it should be noted that there is also a chance of not passing on the ability.

Neighbors

Players may make neighbors by meeting other players online, after adding Friend Codes, meeting on the GTS, or befriending someone as the Dream Tree. However, the latter two methods depend on options which are currently disabled. Players may go to their neighbors' islands and water their berries or trade items.

Dream Points

Dream Points are earned by doing certain actions in the Dream World. Similar to earning Watts in the Pokéwalker, gaining Dream Points allows players to unlock more areas in the Dream Island.
