The Preview Button
Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Page button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Also, if you want to edit multiple sections of the page, make sure that you click "edit this page" at the top of the page rather than editing it by section. Great Marsh
You wrote...
- For Diamond and Pearl, [...] there is 5% less of both Marills and Quagsires, while in Platinum, there is just 10% less Woopers.
Could you explain what exactly this means? Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:15, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- ...If I'm guessing correctly, I think this is what you're implying is happening...
- For Diamond and Pearl:
- Pre-National Pokedex...
- If Golduck appears in an area: Golduck will have an encounter rate of 10%, while Marill and Quagsire will both have encounter rates of 10%.
- If Marill appears in an area: Marill will have a total encounter rate of 20%, while Quagsire will have an encounter rate of 10%.
- Post-National Pokedex...
- Marill and Quagsire will both always have an encounter rate of 10% (in any area). (The changing Pokemon will always fill in the remaining 10% of encounters.)
- Pre-National Pokedex...
- For Platinum:
- Pre-National Pokedex...
- If Tangela appears in area 6: Tangela will have an encounter rate of 10%, while Wooper will have an encounter rate of 20%.
- If no Pokemon appears in area 6: Wooper will have an encounter rate of 30%.
- Post-National Pokedex...
- Wooper will always have an encounter rate of 20% in area 6. (Same in areas 3-5, and 30% in area 1-2.) (The changing Pokemon will always fill in the remaining 10% of encounters.)
- Pre-National Pokedex...
- Would that be correct? Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:57, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- That is correct. Sorry if it was kind of confusing. --PhonSin (talk) 22:54, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- This site may explain it better: http://www.upokecenter.com/content/pokemon-diamond-version-pearl-version-and-platinum-version-great-marsh --PhonSin (talk) 22:36, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Well, if the 15/32 chance of "No change" in Platinum pre-National Pokdedex is actually "Wooper", do you know the levels for that Wooper? Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:45, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- The two 5% encounter slots for Platinum are Levels 28 and 30 for Areas 1 and 2, Levels 28-29 for Areas 3 and 4, and 27-28 for Areas 5 and 6. They are initially filled with Woopers so that is why there is no change. For Diamond and Pearl, both slots are Level 26 for Areas 1 and 2, Level 24 for Areas 3 and 4, and Level 22 for Areas 5 and 6, and they are initially filled with a Marill and a Quagsire so that is why there is only a 5% change for them. The encounter slots are shown in the Rarity section of the discussion page for the Great Marsh. --PhonSin (talk) 09:31, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, I get it, then. Bulbapedia doesn't generally talk much about encounter slots, though... I'm not sure if it's worth trying to explain it that accurately (or changing "None" to "Wooper", either)...but I'll think about that more tomorrow. Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:15, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
