Vibrava (Japanese: ビブラーバ Vibrava) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Trapinch starting at level 35, and evolves into Flygon starting at level 45.

Biology
Physiology
Vibrava is a dragonfly-like Pokémon. It has a small head with two yellow antennae and green bulging eyes with black oval-shaped pupils. Its mouth has two large white teeth protruding from each side. It has a skinny yellow body, four skinny black legs with slender feet, and four green, rhombus-shaped wings with black edges. There are similarly-colored rhombus shapes at the end of its tail.
Vibrava is a dragonfly-like Pokémon. It has a skinny, yellow body, and green, rhombus-shaped wings along with two similar-looking shapes at the end of its tail. Vibrava has green eyes and skinny black legs.

Gender differences
Vibrava's wings are not fully developed, so it is unable to fly very far. However, it is able to create vibrations and ultrasonic waves with its wings. Humans get headaches from these waves. After causing the prey to faint, as a Saprotrophic nutrition, it spits stomach acid to melt its prey before consumption. It continues this eating process every day to help its wings grow. Vibrava calls the List of Pokémon by habitat home and is also known to preserve its captured prey in the desert's hot sands.
None.

Special abilities
Evolution
Vibrava is capable of emitting and manipulating sound waves from its wings. This ability has been tuned to the point where this Pokémon is able to induce headaches in humans. It also has the ability Levitate. This allows Vibrava to dodge Ground attacks such as Earthquake and Magnitude. Oddly enough, its physical-attacking power is actually weaker than Trapinch's.
Vibrava evolves from Trapinch and evolves into Flygon.

Being a Dragon Pokémon, Vibrava can learn Draco Meteor.
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Behavior
A Coordinator named Brianna used a Vibrava in the battle round of the Pokémon Contest in Spontaneous Combusken. Vibrava were also used by random coordinators in Hi Ho Silver Wind and Harley Rides Again.

It also appeared in Pokémon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu! Part One.

Major appearances
Multiple Vibrava made their main series debut in Beg, Burrow and Steal. Dozens of Trapinch were seen evolving into them at an underground lake. TRT attempted to steal the Vibration Pokémon despite the fact the idea MTR had of using their previous forms as nutcrackers was now foiled.

In Spontaneous Combusken, Brianna used a Vibrava during the Battle Stage of the Chrysanthemum Contest.

In Making Battles in the Sand!, Goh caught a List of Goh's Pokémon when he investigated a sandstorm in Mauville City. It has since made further appearances in Pokémon Journeys: The Series.

In Showdown at the Gates of Warp!, due to Dialga and Palkia's influence, Goh's Flygon devolved into a Vibrava and then into a Trapinch. It was later reverted in the same episode. The same also occurred with Alternate World Goh's Flygon.

Minor appearances
Multiple Vibrava debuted in Jirachi: Wish Maker.

In Hi Ho Silver Wind!, a Coordinator's Vibrava competed in the Hoenn Grand Festival.

A Coordinator's Vibrava appeared in Harley Rides Again.

A Vibrava appeared in Pokémon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu! Part 1 and Part 2.

In A Relay in the Sky!, a Trainer's Vibrava competed in the Pokémon Sky Relay. It was in a team also consisting of Ninjask and Shedinja.

In Deceiving Appearances!, five Vibrava were at Aether Paradise.

In Securing the Future!, a Vibrava joined the rest of Alola in showering Necrozma with light so it could return to its List of Pokémon with form differences.

A Vibrava appeared in Secrets of the Jungle.

Trivia
Trivia
* Vibrava and its evolution Flygon are the only non-legendary Pokémon that are not Flying and can learn Fly, with the exception of Smeargle.
* Vibrava shares its category with Palpitoad and Seismitoad. They are all known as the Vibration Pokémon.
* Vibrava has lower base Attack stat than its pre-evolution, Trapinch.
* Vibrava and its evolved form are the only Dragon Pokémon belonging in the Bug.
** Vibrava is the only non-cocoon based Pokémon whose Attack stat is weaker than the Pokémon it evolves from.
** As of Generation VIII, Vibrava and its evolutionary relatives are the only Pokémon that are in the Bug and Dragon Egg Groups.
* All of Vibrava's base stats go up by exactly 30 points when it evolves into Flygon.
* Vibrava is the only Ground List of Pokémon by shape.
*Vibrava and Altaria are the only Dragon-type Pokémon whose pre-evolved forms are not Dragon-type.
* Vibrava's base Attack stat is lower than that of its Trapinch, but it returns to the original stat when it evolves into Flygon.
* Vibrava is the only Pokémon to gain the Dragon upon evolution and still be able to evolve.
* In Colosseum, Vibrava is the only Dragon-type Pokémon that can be snagged, although Altaria is available upon snagging and evolving Swablu.

Origin
Origin
Vibrava is based on the adult stage of an antlion.
On the Origin of Species: Trapinch, Vibrava and Flygon
Vibrava represents the adult stage of an antlion, though it seems to draw more visual inspiration from mayfly, possibly nodding to the Japanese word for an adult antlion, usuba-kagerou, or "thin-winged mayfly". Combined with an antlion's resemblance to a dragonfly, Vibrava's typing suggests that it may also draw inspiration from Progomphus. Its tendency to create harsh noises with its wings is similar to that of a cicada.

Vibrava's name is probably based on the word vibrate, to shake, and larva.
Vibrava may be a combination of vibrate (to shake rapidly) and larva. It may also derive from European dragon#Dragons in Catalan mythology.
