In HZ067, their fight begun, with their selected Pokémon being their first partners. After his Pokémon got into trouble due to Floragato's vine, Roy switched him for Kilowattrel, who took the lead thanks to its flight and speed and paralyzed Floragato, forcing Liko to recall it for Liko. The latter tried to immobilize Kilowattrel with her psychic powers, but was still defeated, although she managed to cure the paralysis of her teammate thanks to her Healer Ability. Liko then ordered Floragato to trick the opponent with the vine before defeating him with Scratch. Roy sent Fuecoco back to the field, who after being encouraged by his Trainer, Ryme, and the crowd, evolved into Crocalor. Both Trainers Terastallized their Pokémon, but Crocalor prevailed and defeated Floragato, making Roy the winner of the battle.

In HZ068, Roy, Liko, and Dot boarded the fully-repaired Brave Olivine and explored its new additions. When Friede returned Lucius's belt and Ancient Poké Balls to Liko, Arboliva, Moltres, and Lapras emerged from their balls and challenged the three children in order to test their strength. Roy and Crocalor went up against Moltres, where they managed to land a super effective hit with Disarming Voice before doing more damage with Terastallization. The three Hero Pokémon were not defeated, but were pleased by Roy and his friends' growth and returned to their Poké Balls soon after.
In HZ068, Raifort told Roy, Liko, and Dot about Briar, a Terapagos researcher currently stationed in the land of Kitakami. Roy and the others boarded the fully-repaired Brave Olvine, where they received a tour of the ship's new additions. When Friede returned Lucius's belt and Ancient Poké Balls, Arboliva, Galarian Moltres, and Lapras came out and challenged the younger Rising Volt Tacklers members to a practice battle. Roy and Crocalor went up against Moltres, where after exchanging several attacks, Moltres returned to its Poké Ball, satisfied with Roy's progress. Later that night, the Brave Olivine reached Kitakami.

In HZ069, Roy and his friends arrived at Kitakami to search for Briar but, as she wasn't in Mossui Town, they decided to partake in the Countryside Harvest Festival instead. Roy and Crocalor wandered off to a stall where they both accidentally swapped bodies after trying out a malfunctioning Synchro Machine. After a series of events at the festival with Liko and Dot, Roy and Crocalor eventually swapped back to their own bodies once the machine had been fixed, only for it to break soon after.
In HZ071, Roy, Liko, Dot, and Friede arrived at the Crystal Pool. While Friede went off to fetch Briar, the children were attacked by a wild Terastallized Milotic. Through teamwork, Roy and the others managed to calm down and befriend the Milotic, which impressed Briar, who had returned with Friede just as the battle concluded. Roy's group and Briar had a discussion on Terapagos, its forms, and its connection to Area Zero. Once night fell, Briar suggested using the Crystal Pool's legendary ability to allow people to see those that have passed on. Terapagos tried to summon Lucius's spirit, but nothing happened. Afterward, Roy's group said farewell to Briar and returned to the Brave Olivine. Later, Dot introduced the Rising Volt Tacklers to Perrin, a photographer who saw Lucius's Kleavor.

In HZ072, Roy, Liko, Dot, Friede, and Perrin traveled to Tengu Mountain, where the latter found Kleavor. Roy and Crocalor were separated from the others when they fell into an underground cave. Once they escaped and reunited with the others, everyone decided to use scratches left in the terrain to determine where Kleavor resided, oblivious to the fact that it had been watching them.
