A Repel is an item which lets the player walk a certain number of steps without encountering Pokémon with a lower level than the first member in the player's party. It is manufactured by Silph Co., and is sold in most Poké Marts. Its design is similar to that of an aerosol can and is similar to insect repellent. It is available in three strengths. It is the base of the Repel trick.

Effect
When used from the Bag in the overworld, it prevents certain wild Pokémon from appearing for 100 steps:
* In Generation I, and from Generation VI onwards, this applies to wild Pokémon with a lower level than the first member of the party.
* From Generation II to V, this applies to wild Pokémon with a lower level than the first non-fainted member of the party.
In Black and White, this item does not prevent wild Pokémon from appearing in the White Forest.
Starting in B2W2, if the player still has more of this item when the effect wears off, the game will automatically ask the player whether they want to use another one immediately.
In Sword and Shield, it prevents hidden encounters; it does not prevent symbol encounters or wanderers.
