Yūzō first appeared in ''[[DP001|Following a Maiden's Voyage]]''. He was taking care of the Pokémon at the lab while Rowan was out when I fight broke out between a {{TP|Dawn|Piplup}} and a {{p|Chimchar}}. Things became even more disorganized after a {{p|Staraptor}} was accidentally attacked at it began to use {{m|Whirlwind}} inside the lab. Yūzō began to worry what Professor Rowan would say. He was going to attempt to clean it up but he returned with the [[Dawn (anime)|new trainer]].

Yuzo debuted in ''[[DP001|Following A Maiden's Voyage!]]''. He was taking care of the {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} at the lab in [[Sandgem Town]] while Rowan was out, when a fight broke out between the {{p|Piplup}} and the {{p|Chimchar}} reserved for a beginning {{pkmn|Trainer}}. Things became even more disorganized after a {{p|Staraptor}} was accidentally attacked and it began to use {{m|Whirlwind}} inside the lab. Yuzo began to worry what Professor Rowan would say. He was going to attempt to clean the lab up when Rowan returned with the new Trainer, {{an|Dawn}}.
 
It was revealed that his [[List of characters' first Pokémon|first Pokémon]] was a {{p|Starly}}, and his brother's (sister in the English dub) was a {{p|Bidoof}}.
