On this route, some of the highest-leveled wild Pokémon in Sinnoh can be found. Like {{rt|111|Hoenn}} in [[Hoenn]], there is a raging {{weather|sandstorm}} here that will affect all battles. Route 228 is also home to the [[Move Tutor]], who can teach any [[first partner Pokémon]] {{m|Hydro Cannon}}, {{m|Blast Burn}}, or {{m|Frenzy Plant}}. In {{v2|Platinum}}, the cave in the middle of the route holds the {{si|Rock Peak Ruins}}, where {{p|Regirock}} can be battled if the {{player}} has a [[fateful encounter]] {{p|Regigigas}} in their party.
