Ghost don't have to look like their living counterparts. The whole existence of paradox Pokemon is dubious so it's fitting and it seems like they were made up from this very books. Don't dismiss the prime lore about these Pokemon. Nothing wrong with writing "IT COULD BE LOOSELY BASED".
