A '''Battle Girl''' (Japanese: '''バトルガール''' ''Battle Girl'') is a type of [[Pokémon Trainer]] that first debuted in the [[Generation III]] games. They are generally depicted as young girls or young women, dressed in midriff-baring crop tops and shorts, traditional {{wp|Kung Fu}} uniforms in {{2v2|Black|White}}, or blue karate gis in {{pkmn|X and Y}}, and striking a fighting pose.

[[Gym]]s and [[Battle Frontier|battle]] [[Battle Subway|facilities]] aside, they use {{type|Fighting}} {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} exclusively. In the [[Battle Subway]], they specialize in {{t|Fighting}}-, {{t|Fire}}-, and {{type|Steel}} Pokémon. In the [[Battle Maison]], they specialize in Fighting-, Fire-, and {{type|Rock}} Pokémon.

The character {{ho|Shauna}} from the episodes ''[[AG030|A Meditite Fight!]]'' and ''[[AG031|Just One of the Geysers]]'' is based on this class.

Shauna, a minor character training under [[Brawly]] of [[Dewford Gym]], is based on Dewford Gym's Tessa from {{game|Ruby and Sapphire|s}}. They both share the same Japanese name, '''シノブ''' ''Shinobu''. Tessa's English name was changed to Jocelyn in {{game|Emerald}}, but her Japanese name remained the same.

A Battle Girl named {{tt|Yukari|Chuang Yi}}/{{tt|Cyndy|VIZ Media}} is seen battling {{tc|Bug Catcher}} James in the {{DL|Battle Frontier (Generation III)|Battle Dome}}. While it is unknown who won, what is known is that Cyndy at some point lost a match, eliminating her from the tournament.
