Exception?

Confused what you meant when saying I was making an exception here. I was not counting special cases like Oshawott going to the bottom of the lake because that kind of thing is not actually listed as a move on the move table; I based my analysis on the table of moves, and there was no "exception". It's the first of Ash's that is normally a starter to learn such a move.

I did check and found that it's not the first overall, however; the seven HM pages for this generation note two of Ash's Pokémon (Gible and Boldore) know Rock Smash. Cut is therefore the second HM move learned and Froakie is the only one to know it. Not AS trivia-worthy - partially since other Pokémon in the anime have known all HM moves at some point - but still interesting. I forgot those two even learned Rock Smash (and I might not have seen the Gible episodes). CycloneGU (talk) 08:25, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Grotle/Torterra knows Rock Climb. I may have misunderstood the trivia a little bit, but what I mean by exception (which was probably the wrong word to use so I apologize) is that multiple Pokémon he owns have used HM moves, so having to say it's his first Starter Pokémon to use an HM move (which is false anyway) is trying to make something notable that just isn't. Froakie/Frogadier is his fourth Pokémon to use an HM move, so it's just not notable in anyway at this point. --HoennMaster 09:18, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Huh. I wasn't thinking of Rock Climb. It was am HM once. And I really started playing in fifth, so I usually forget that. I did see Rock Climb in use, however, so I cannot deny that. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 15:42, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Help

I have a problem. It's Ash's Frogadier's English VA. Me and other users confirmed it to be Thompson. But now I'm getting puzzled because Tiddlywinks and Pansagetrent9 agreed but ForceFire Didn't and now the page for Frogadier is locked. What should I do?--JasonL 09:28, 1 March 2015 (UTC)JasonL (Talk)

Has Frogadier's VA been confirmed by official sources? --Bomyne (talk) 09:38, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
By this I mean, Via the show's credits, the Pokemon.com website, an official press release, etc. --Bomyne (talk) 09:43, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
You should be asking ForceFire about this. I have nothing to do with the situation. --HoennMaster 09:37, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Journey

Aren't the Indigo and Orange Leagues both considered one journey, and the same with Hoenn and the Battle Frontier?- unsigned comment from Thenmark2 (talkcontribs)

Same anime series, but definitely different journeys. A journey through Kanto is not the same as traveling through the Orange Islands. --HoennMaster 09:37, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Mad-Paced Getter

I'm just asking why people are constantly putting on Mad-Paced Getter that Clemont is going to use Bunnelby for his Gym Battle against Ash when there's no solid evidence confirming it. I keep removing it saying that openings can be inaccurate. Just because it appeared in an opening doesn't mean that it's guaranteed to happen. For example, Mega V (Mega Volt) showed two events that would later be determined as false. First, it showed Ash using Froakie in his Gym Battle against Korrina when in Showdown at the Shalour Gym!, he didn't. Second, at the end of the first version of that opening, Korrina was seen running up to Ash and his friends to join the group, saying that she would become a new permanent addition to the party, when at the end of The Bonds of Mega Evolution!, she left. People keep putting it back on the page because of a picture that features Clemont with Bunnelby in Lumiose Gym. I was just explaining to them why they shouldn't assume that Clemont would use Bunnelby against Ash. Even for the anime, which is constantly changing the Gym Leaders' parties, it would not make any sense whatsoever for a Gym Leader to use a Pokémon that was not of their specialty type. The only time this is allowed is if the Gym Leader does use the Pokémon in their party (for example, Candice's Medicham). Plus, it has been confirmed in this preview that Clemont will be using his Heliolisk and Luxray. Since he already has a Magneton in Lumious Gym and has never been seen with an Emolga, that means that Clemont will be using Luxray, Magneton, and Heliolisk, with his Luxray in place of Emolga. --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 19:58, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Watch ALL of the previews...Clemont was clearly seen using Bunnelby against Pikachu as the opening round. It even shows Bunnelby using the Iron Tail Ear Stop again. --BlisseyandtheAquaJets (talk) 20:51, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
"And That Korrina thing was not an indicator at all:It was just a farewell type-thing. Don't go off on a rant because of failed fan theories/wannabe shipper bait(Which XY is way too full of)"
I'm not shipping Korrina with Ash. I was just saying that there were hints saying that Korrina could have joined the group after Ash got the Rumble Badge. Plus, at the time, Serena had nothing going on character wise. She was just there. She had no goals, no new Pokémon, no anything. All she did was tag along and made Poké Puffs. If Korrina joined, it would have made the group more interesting and would have compensated for Serena's lack of character. --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 23:23, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Luxray trivia

If Clemont's Luxray being the first non Generation VI Pokémon to be caught in Kalos is not noticeable, then how come Iris's Dragonite being the first non Generation V Pokémon to be caught in Unova is? --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 19:55, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

With the Black and White games they made it so that you couldn't catch any Pokémon from Gens I-IV in the wild until after the Elite 4, which is what the anime followed. That's why with Dragonite's case it is notable. With Luxray it's not since Kalos has numerous pre-Gen VI Pokémon available. --HoennMaster 21:21, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Source help

I need another help. I already asked but is there another source I can use aside from Facebook and Twitter? And can you give me a hint to find a web with all Pokemon Dub Voice Actors that is incomplete even though I'm checking all about? Please? And nobody wouldn't be so curious.--Jay 21 (Talk) 07:40, 24 May 2015 (UTC)

If you can't contact the voice actor directly, Tom Wayland, or use the VA's official site that a reliable source mostly likely doesn't exist for it. Random sites are not reliable. --HoennMaster 07:20, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Header Image

I'd like to suggest, since I don't have the ability to rename files (only to upload over, and this is already uploaded), having the new image of Braixen renamed to whatever name it's supposed to be. An image of JUST the Pokémon should be in the infobox, not of both trainer and Pokémon. CycloneGU (talk) 04:44, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

New versions can be uploaded, but the main image must stay with that name. --HoennMaster 03:00, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, we've figured it out. Pattyman found another image of interest where Braixen was waving its "wand", producing fire. It hasn't updated the article thumbnail yet, but if you click the image, it'll show up in large form as the current image. I like it, so it's just a matter of it updating now so casual viewers can see it too. And it fits the Trainer Pokémon infobox image criteria. CycloneGU (talk) 03:08, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Technicality

Routes 21 and 22 connect through a gate in the same fashion that you would say Route 17 connects to Route 18 and that Unova's Route 2 connects to Accumula Town. Victory Road is actually located north of the gate if you exclude the fact that the checkpoints appear in the gate. So Routes 21 and 22 do connect like other Routes do. CycloneGU (talk) 14:45, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

The gate is part of Victory Road's location, as shown on the town map. It's not the same as those examples. --HoennMaster 20:15, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
I still disagree on the basis that you have to go north to enter Victory Road. Yes, the portion of the gate area that leads to Victory Road could be considered part of the area, but the portion where the paths connect does not go directly through Victory Road. It's like saying the connection to the Route isn't there when it's a five second walk across the room. CycloneGU (talk) 20:19, 7 July 2015 (UTC

Ash's Leavanny reverted edit

Hello I'm messaging you because you recently reverted an edit on Ash's Leavanny's page in which I stated what episode it's gender was confirmed. I believe that having this information on this page is very useful since although it states male there is no way of finding out how it was confirmed. I believe having this information solved this issue because how is anyone who hasn't seen the episode supposed to know this, and how are they supposed to know that it was confirmed in episode 25 of BW. You stated that it wasn't very good material but to me it seems just as good as the other trivia. Please do not revert this edit as it solves a problem. Thank youRatchet and Clank 1995 (talk) 09:58, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

There is no problem. How a Pokémon's gender is confirmed is not important to the Pokémon's page, other than Pikachu's. We don't do it for any other Pokémon, so Leavanny is not an exception. The episode pages where genders are confirmed have a note saying it happened. If you feel this needs to change, then bring it up with an admin, but don't go back adding it to pages. --HoennMaster 10:07, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
Ok I'll address this issue. I still think it's important because it states the gender but there is almost no way of finding out how it was confirmed.Ratchet and Clank 1995 (talk) 11:43, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

That egg trivia of mine

The egg trivia of Ash Noibat u deleted it saying it wasnt good?--SilverioBOMB (talk) 03:06, 10 September 2015 (UTC)*Noibat is the second egg to be found at first was Togepi by not to be given by day care.

It's not the first time it happened, so it's not notable. --HoennMaster 23:11, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

That's why I said Ash Noibat is the second to be found not given.--SilverioBOMB (talk) 00:06, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Again, second time is not notable. --HoennMaster 00:51, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Mr. Briney

Is he really still a captain/sailor? There is an NPC in ORAS that states that he USED to be an amazing sailor. Just wondering. ^~^ MannedTooth (talk) 02:16, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

That NPC was also in the originals. He appears as the Captain on the SS Tidal after beating the Elite Four. --HoennMaster 02:57, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

XY trivia

Although I find such trivia unnecessary in general, I do believe what's being pointed out is that XY are insofar the only games not followed by solitary versions (Gens I-IV) or same-generation sequels (Gen V). Are you suggesting that RS were not followed by a solitary version (Emerald)? FRLG's release date is not what's being discussed here as no one is implying that Emerald came out directly after RS. SatoMew2 (talk) 02:40, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

When people use "followed by" or "followed up by", it would mean the next release. FRLG were released after R&S, meaning they followed up those games. RS were followed by FRLG, XY were followed by ORAS, so that trivia is incorrect. However, it is very true that the Kalos region did not receive a second game or set of games set in that region. That trivia would be for Kalos's page, not the XY page. --HoennMaster 02:55, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

X and Y/follow up

We really need to be careful about edit warring... So if you remain in doubt that the trivia belongs at all, let's please discuss it here. Or if you just feel you need to reword it, please have at it. =)

Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:13, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

XY&Z trivia

Why did you erase it? The poster was advertising the XY&Z series by showing the future parties of Ash and friends during said arc, but that roster never happened in the show. It depicted Serena's Sylveon as still an Eevee when Ash's Noibat would evolve when the opposite happened. A similar scenario occurred in Roaring All-Stars, where it showed Ash's Fletchinder along with Serena's Eevee. Fletchinder evolved prior to Serena catching her Eevee, and the trivia regarding so was mentioned in its page. So why not mention this mistake in the XY&Z series page? --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 22:36, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

It's just a poster made to advertise the series. It doesn't have to show everything that will happen. --HoennMaster 06:02, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

Headbutt tress

Excuse me, HoennMaster, but could I possibly ask you to change to your JohtoMaster form for a while? I've seen you've done edits like this, and I'm under the impression KingHelps (a newbie btw) has had a somewhat valid point. I realized our encounter tables currently contradict, but I too can see no trees (and that also matches my memory). Could you possibly shed some light on this, and/or act accordingly. Thanks! Headbutt trees 2

Hi, regarding the above, yes my apologies I am new to editing wikis!

However I have checked in-game and it is not possible to headbutt large trees in Gen II, only the small trees described on the Headbutt_tree page. There are none of the small trees on Routes 45 and 46. I have tried to edit the pages and clarify this and have edited the pages Headbutt_tree, Spearow, Aipom, Heracross and Route_45. I have tried to remove the part of the table on the Route_46 page which refers to Pokémon from headbutting trees but the system has directed me to contact an admin. Please let me know how I should proceed :)

Battle Resort

For simplicity's sake, can you give me the quote where it's explicitly stated that the Battle Resort is the predecessor to the Tower/Frontier (and who/where it's from if you can too)? Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 05:12, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

This is the main one, but there are other NPCs around the island that mention it as well. --HoennMaster 05:34, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

About the Core series page

Hey, thanks for claiming that one of my changes was impertinent and then reversing all of my syntax changes alongside it. Really appreciate it. Also, I'm aware that these games aren't officially referred to as "sister games." They're also not officially referred to as "follow-up games" or "third games," but the Core series page refers to them as such numerous times nevertheless. I added "sister games" for two reasons: the first being that they're often referred to as sister games by both fans (like "follow-up games," "third games," etc.) and Bulbapedia itself (see the Platinum and Emerald pages), and the second being that it's nice to avoid repetition and establish some synonyms that still apply to the games rather than just saying "upper games" every other sentence. "Sister game" is a phrase that is in circulation within the community; therefore, it is still an applicable term for games such as Platinum and Emerald despite the fact that they have officially been referred to as "upper games." Both terms can be used; since "upper game" is an official term for something so obscure as this, we shouldn't purge every other existing synonym. If the terminology was more crucial (ie. proper nouns like Green/Leaf and Blue/Green), then I would agree, but this is so minor in comparison. This is a quality of life change. I'm changing the page back to my revision, as not only do I believe that my addition added to the page's quality, but I had multiple other syntax changes that I thought improved the flow of the section. If you want to give me feedback about that syntax without decimating all of my changes at once, just let me know. --RedHailfire (talk) 03:55, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Regardless of how you feel about my edits, don't come in and act all upset. Welcome to the internet and editing wikis. Your edits are going to get undone multiple times, it happens. The majority of fans call them third versions and have always done so. I'm sure some people do call them sister games, but that is not a widely used term, and we should stick to official terms and well adopted fanon. Cheers. --HoennMaster 07:10, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
I don't think you can try to justify your edits by just saying something along the lines of "It's the internet, get used to it." The reason that I acted "all upset" was because, as I said before, you removed all of my changes when you claimed to have an issue with only one of them. I feel that I have some kind of right to feel irritated. Also, as I said before, the term "sister game" is in circulation, or as you said, it's "well adopted fanon." I think I can back this up by the fact that, again, Bulbapedia itself uses this term often. I added it alongside "follow-up game" in the little appositive describing fan-given names. You can take a look at the edit; I think it works. --RedHailfire (talk) 21:06, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
Bulbapedia does not use it often, it uses it a few game pages that was added by someone over a decade ago when the site was still new and no one felt the need to change it. I'm not saying no one calls it a sister game, but it is not widely used. Third version is, and should be used over sister game because that is what the majority of the fandom calls it. You removed that reference in order to use sister game multiple times even though that is not what the majority of people call it. --HoennMaster 02:07, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

Hey HoennMaster, sorry about not making a new section, but since this is related I thought it'd be okay. I'd like to work on the List of anime title cards article. May I have your permission to edit the page? I have some ideas about how to incorporate both the English and Japanese dub chronology, and I think that article can be made mainspace-worthy. → PikaTepig999 19:17, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

(resetting indent) I hope you don't mind that I edited the page. I believe that the page is now ready for mainspace, so if its okay with you, I'd like to change the {{mainspacing}} from Under Construction to Complete. I believe that having the page in mainspace will also jusitfy the upload for the missing title card images, something I think will not be worth it while the page is in userspace. → PikaTepig999 11:04, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
