Spore (Japanese: キノコのほうし Mushroom Spore) is a non-damaging Grass-type move introduced in Generation I. Prior to Generation III, it was the signature move of Paras and Parasect.

Effect

Generations I-V

Spore puts the target to sleep. Spore cannot affect targets with Insomnia or Vital Spirit as their Ability.

In the Generation I handheld games only, Spore can affect a target behind a substitute.

Generation VI onwards

Grass-type Pokémon, Pokémon with Overcoat, and Pokémon holding the Safety Goggles are now immune to Spore. Pokémon under the effect of Sweet Veil are also unaffected by Spore.

Spore can also be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, causing certain moves (Dream Eater, Hex, Nightmare and Wake-Up Slap) to give an extra three appeal points if used in the next turn.

If powered up by a Grassium Z into Z-Spore, all of the user's lowered stats are reset.

In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, Spore is a move with 19PP and 100% accuracy. It targets all enemies in the same room, putting them to sleep if possible. In hallways, this move targets Pokémon up two tiles away (or one in one-tile darkness). This move is affected by Magic Coat and Taunt.

In Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, the move's PP has been decreased to 12 and its accuracy to 88%.

Description
