Exeggutor (Japanese: ナッシー Nassy) is a dual-type Grass/Psychic Pokémon.

It evolves from Exeggcute when exposed to a Leaf Stone.

Biology

Physiology

Exeggutor is a tall, brown Pokémon that resembles a coconut tree, with its lower body resembling a tree trunk. It has thick legs with two-toed feet and a light-yellow colored paw pad on the foot's underside. Exeggutor has three to six round, light-yellow heads that resemble coconuts.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Exeggutor, and its pre-evolved form, Exeggcute, are the only known Pokémon that learn Barrage. Aside from this, it has mostly the same abilities that most Grass- and Template:Type2 Pokémon possess.

Behavior

Each head thinks independently of the others. Because of this, it makes a lot of noise as each head speaks its mind.

Habitat

Exeggutor live in forests and jungles. Its range is basically the same as Exeggcute.

Diet

Major appearances

Exeggutor first appeared in The March of the Exeggutor Squad. Ash was hypnotized by Melvin's Exeggcute and was forced to capture several Exeggutor for Melvin. Unfortunately, all of the Exeggutor used Hypnosis on each other and they went on a rampage.

Ash battled an Exeggutor in his first battle in the Indigo League in Round One - Begin. Despite the type disadvantage and the lack of experience, Ash's Krabby defeated Mandi's Exeggutor, evolving into Kingler in the process.

Minor appearances

In Misty Meets Her Match, Rudy used an Exeggutor against Ash's Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur managed to defeat it, but it also saved the Coconut Tree Pokémon from falling down a cliff.

An Exeggutor appeared in Pruning a Passel of Pals!

In the Pokémon Adventures manga

Exeggutor makes several appearances in Pokémon Adventures, one of the most predominant ones being in a rampage due to the Cerise Island battle.

In Volume 9, Exeggutor is one of the Pokémon Blue captures outside the Viridian Gym. It is seen again in Volume 13 as a part of his squad in the Gym Leader faceoff, and again as a defender of Viridian Gym in Volume 24.

Prior to Volume 23, Bill's Exeggcute has evolved into Exeggutor. It was seen in Icefall Cave being targeted at by Blue, testing out the Vs. Seeker.

Trivia

Origin

It appears to be based on a coconut tree, or possibly the Japanese monster Jinmenju, a tree that grows human heads (that are always smiling).

Name origin

Exeggutor's name is a combination of egg and executor. The Japanese name is derived from the words ココナッツ kokonattsu (coconuts) and 椰子 yashi (palm tree.)

In other languages

  • German: Kokowei - A combination of Kokos (coconut) and the name of its pre-evolution, an old term O wei (good grief).
  • French: Noadkoko - A corruption of noix de coco (coconut).
  • Korean: 나시 Nasi
  • Chinese (Taiwan): 椰蛋樹 Yé Dàn Shù - Literally means "Coconut egg tree".
