In the core series games
Generation IX
A total of four Paldean forms were introduced in Generation IX.
In addition, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet introduced the ecologically similar Pokémon lines: the Wiglett, Toedscool, and Poltchageist lines, whose designs heavily resemble the Diglett, Tentacool, and Sinistea lines, respectively. Despite their similar appearances, these Pokémon are not regional forms, as their Pokédex entries confirm them to be separate species. Their resemblance to pre-existing Pokémon may be inspired by the real-world phenomenon of convergent evolution.
Generation IX also introduced the Paradox Pokémon, which are also considered to be a separate species of Pokémon despite resembling existing species, though they are theorized to be related to those species in some way.
