Shaymin (Japanese: シェイミ Sheimi) is a Grass-type Legendary Pokémon of Generation IV.
Biology
Physiology
Shaymin is a small, white hedgehog-like creature. Shaymin appears to have grass on its back instead of quills. Shaymin has a pink flower by the side of its face. Shaymin is the shortest legendary Pokémon to date.
Gender differences
Shaymin is genderless.
Special abilities
Shaymin has the ability to instantly purify the area it is in of all pollutants and transform it into a flowery field.
Shaymin is the only Pokémon so far that can use Seed Flare.
Behavior
Habitat
Shaymin live in flowery fields. However, since Shaymin can camouflage itself by curling itself up, Shaymin can easily escape peoples' notice.
Diet

As a plant-based Pokémon, Shaymin most likely nourish themselves through photosynthesis.

- This is the second event legendary Pokémon, which was thought only to be received at a Nintendo event. However in the Japanese version of Diamond/Pearl, it can be caught through a glitch involving Surf in the room of the first Elite Four member.
- Shaymin is the first pure Grass-type legendary Pokémon.
- Shaymin is, as of Generation IV, the shortest legendary Pokémon.
- Although Shaymin is a legendary pokémon it plays normal wild pokemon music in the battle with it.
Origin
Shaymin is based on either a hedgehog or porcupine.
Name origin
Its name may come from the word shame, as it is a very shy and elusive Pokémon. It may also be derived from Shaman. Its Japanese name, Sheimi, contains mi, which means "seed" in Japanese.
