Paul's Gliscor (Japanese: シンジのグライオン Shinji's Glion) is a Pokémon owned by Paul.

History

Gliscor leading its original gang

Gliscor debuted in Riding the Winds of Change! as the leader of a large group of Gligar that were stealing food off of people from a large city after the strong winds caused by the skyscrapers prevented the pack from leaving, therefore reducing them to commit theft to feed their own. After Gliscor and his gang attack Ash and his friends, Paul attacks Gliscor with an Ice Beam from his Weavile, although Gliscor manages to dodge and escape from the area, with Paul impressed with the Fang Scorpion Pokémon. Later, after Ash, his friends, and Officer Jenny come up with a plan to drive the gang away, Gliscor is finally captured by Paul after the combined efforts of Paul's Weavile and Electabuzz.

In Chim - Charred!, Gliscor was chosen by Paul as his first Pokémon against Ash, facing off against his Gligar, who used to be part of Gliscor's gang. Despite Gligar's fear of facing its former leader and evolved form, Ash encouraged the Fly Scorpion Pokémon to face its former leader. Despite its newfound courage, Gligar was no match against Gliscor, whose superior power easily allowed it to defeat Gligar with little to no effort.

Gliscor briefly appeared during Aiding the Enemy!, where it was seen sleeping upside down from a tree branch while Paul and his other Pokémon were resting. Along with Paul's other Pokémon, Gliscor witnessed the brief argument between Paul and Ash before it spectated their battle, where Ash's Turtwig evolved into Grotle.

Personality and characteristics

Gliscor and Paul

Before its capture, Gliscor was shown to be an effective leader, leading its pack of Gligar to search for food all across a large city to keep them fed and happy. Despite their methods, Gliscor and his gang weren't stealing food out of a malice but rather desperation since the strong winds caused by the city's skyscrapers prevented the pack from leaving, and while originally only consuming the city's fruits and vegetables, they were forced to steal once they stripped the city from their food supply. When they were captured by Team Rocket, Gliscor tried its best to free itself and its underlings. Once free, they worked together to send the trio blasting off. After being captured by Paul, it seemed to have adopted some of Paul's aloof and indifferent traits, having zero reaction upon meeting up with one of its former Gligar underlings, and showing no remorse against it during their battle despite their obvious difference in power.

As noted by Paul, Gliscor seemed to have gained quite a reputation for itself during his time as leader of the pack, as Paul was impressed with its power, commenting that it lived up to the expectations he'd heard about it. After capturing it and checking its data with his Pokédex, Paul decided to keep it, a testament to Gliscor's might as Paul would only keep Pokémon he deemed were good for his standards, which wasn't often.

Much like its species, Gliscor has the tendency to hang upside down from trees, and enjoys sleeping in this position. As shown in Riding the Winds of Change!, Gliscor can emit a sort of sound wave in order to detect obstacles and fly around them, similar to echolocation.
