I still don't like this

Not only is this a stub (I seem to recall electAbuzzzz imposing a no-stubs-allowed rule) but I'm part of the team that considers this article kind of pointless. We are an English Pokémon wiki and essentially our whole wiki is "Pokémon in the United States" - this article just summarizes the contents of the entire wiki. I noticed in the edit summary someone said "there's no reason for it not to exist"... so what information does an article like this have to offer? What's special about Pokémon in the United States? Just about the whole wiki explains what Pokémon stuff is localized for the US. --ZestyCactus 04:20, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Agree Everything on the wiki uses English-localized names (per the manual of style), and anything with a US release date has that date in the infobox of its article. I don't think that we need to keep this article either. ChiefbozX (talk) 04:49, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
(Article creator) I guess so, but just to clarify, why do we have a Pokémon in the United Kingdom article? (Canada is partly French, so yeah.) --Darthrai (talk) 05:22, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
I'm not really sure why we agreed to have the UK, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand either, to be honest, but there they are. :P Alternatively, it occured to me that if we're going to keep articles like this, we should consolidate all the TV station articles into here like we did with some of the other countries. I remember the first Project Globe articles were partly converted from articles about TV stations in various countries, and then game/manga/etc info was added on top of that. Similarly, I remember there used to be a separate article for YTV that was absorbed into Pokémon in Canada (which, as Darthrai mentioned, also has Quebec French so it'd get its own article anyway). So I guess that would be my alternative choice. --ZestyCactus 01:41, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
UKer here: If you're gonna have Pokémon in the UK/Ireland/Aus/NZ then you need this too. This wiki isn't just designed US fans, it's for the whole English speaking world who play Pokémon (the head of Bulbagarden is Australian), not to mention people who don't have it translated in their local language and play it in English. A significant portion of the people using this website won't know about the stuff on this page. Jmvb (talk) 12:35, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, well, once I realised that the anime history stuff should be included, and expanded stuff like Events, etc; I've sort of realised it's really no less valid than the other articles for English-only countries... heck, I'm Canadian, and as I was working on this it occured to me that some of this stuff like with Cartoon Network and whatever I didn't even know XD also as you mentioned, Jmvb, I personally like to present a worldwide, unbiased view on Bulbapedia, in fact I include a lot of exclusive stuff from other countries and languages (Misty's Song, Pokémon Black and White volume 1, etc...) and excluding the United States doesn't contribute to an unbiased worldwide view. I've managed to keep the article from being exclusively pointless information, and now I think it looks pretty spiff. If nobody objects, I'll remove the dispute tag. (Yeah I pretty much 180'd on this view :P) --ZestyCactus 03:48, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
I think part of my original objection was that in the beginning, a lot of the Project Globe articles focused on dubbing and VA information, (see Israel for an example) and I had it still in my head that that was supposed to be the meat of the article. But the scope of Project Globe has grown beyond that now, including community, events, and not to mention all the original TV channel articles being merged with their respective countries. Probably also too was my Canadian viewpoint ("everything is localised in the US anyway" "the US gets all the events we don't" which likely made me too biased. So ya :P --ZestyCactus 03:52, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

"Sneak peek" dates vs. "original order" dates of episodes' first airings

Shouldn't the "sneak peek" dates (for the episodes that have them) and the "original order" dates be displayed? Also, if we're going to be including the sneak peek dates (along with or in place of the "original order" dates), I think EP015's "special preview" date should be included as well in the display, as its special airing preceded the English airing of EP001. I tried formatting the infobox myself, but it seems like that particular Country Infobox is limited to the episodes currently being displayed... Fenyx4 (talk) 17:39, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

The coding you had doesn't work cause the template only works to look at the 001, it's not programmed to display anything random :P I agree that it should be mentioned though so I will try and convey the same information within the limitations of the template :P --ZestyCactus 18:38, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Hulu and Netflix services of the United States

Should the Hulu article (the sections pertaining to the Pokémon anime of the United States) and the upcoming Netflix Pokémon-related additions be incorporated within this article as well? Fenyx4 (talk) 17:41, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

I assume that Hulu is currently still a separate article as it covers more than one region (although I have doubts it's available anywhere BESIDES Japan and United States :P we're probably never gonna get it here in Canada). Having said that, you could always put a {{merge}} template on it if you want a discussion going. Having said that, the article could at least use some mention of Hulu and a link to the existing article :P and should probably mention Netflix, tho again, since Netflix is available in multiple regions (even more than Hulu is) it will probably end up getting its own article anyway. idk. :P --ZestyCactus 18:38, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Pokémon anime in the United States

The Pokémon anime section is so big that it could probably be its own article. I'm sort of just throwing this out there as a wild suggestion, as it would obviously be very different to every other country page. - bthrussellUK (talk) 11:30, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

Why? Just because it’s a big section doesn’t mean the article is too big that it needs to be spun off. Do you want to separate Alcremie’s biology section from its page?--KnightGalarie (talk) 13:28, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
It's just a suggestion. The anime section of this article is pretty long, with lots of subsections of its own, that could potentially become a complete article on the history of the anime in the US (the Biology section of the Alcremie article is a lot shorter by comparison and has no subsections, and wouldn't make for a very complete article by itself). It is just an idea, to streamline this article to make it a little less anime dominated, but I'm not trying to insist on a change if people disagree! - bthrussellUK (talk) 15:44, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Honestly I think we should be brainstorming expanding the other sections than spinning what’s currently the dominant one off--KnightGalarie (talk) 15:46, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
I have now rewritten this section and tried to find as many references as I could. I have removed some stuff that seemed irrelevant to a Pokémon wiki (e.g. the history of the Toonami block) and tried to condense down the massive Toonami Jetstream and Cartoon Network Video sections a little. I've added more information on DisneyNOW and the other VOD services available in the US. Being from the UK, there is a limit to how much of this stuff I can verify (e.g. I have no idea what is available on Xfinity Stream, other than the fact there is a Pokémon webpage) - I'm hoping I haven't missed anything important in my rewrite. I've added these to a VOD table at the end, a feature found on other country pages. I still think all this is enough to be its own article, but on balance I think it is fine as it is. The rest of the article could probably do with beefing up however. - bthrussellUK (talk) 16:20, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
I have removed the {{split}} template from the page due to a lack of consensus to split the page - bthrussellUK (talk) 18:58, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
