Name origin

I’ve taken it upon myself to investigate the naming of the latest batch of Pokémon, and I think I’ve come up with something! With Minior, its English name is obviously derived from “mini” (it’s only a 1’00” Pokémon) and the pronunciation of “meteor”.

I’m not entirely sure where “Meteno” comes from, as the immediate Japanese characters for “meteor”, “star”, or “tiny” are similar to its spelling. However, it may be derived from the English words for “meteor” and maybe “teeny”, as in “teeny tiny”.

If anyone seems to agree with me or has additional suggestions, feel free to bring them up! - Nintendo101 (talk) 23:53, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

it might also have something to do with nanoYamitora1 (talk) 19:07, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
I think it's worth mentioning that it's name could possibly involve the word core, and ore. Qwertyo76 (talk) 17:24, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

I think that the name also involves some form of the word "mineral", because it is said to be made out of minerals from the atmosphere. --LavaringX (talk) 06:25, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

I think that the name meteno comes from the word "meteo", which is another way of saing "inseki", or the Japanese word for Meteor. FFFTM (talk) 21:27, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

Origion of Minior

At face value, Minior simply resembles a small meteor, and in general carries an aesthetic similar to Solrock and Lunatone. While that much is true, it also closely resembles konpeitō, a popular star-shapes candy in Japan that also inspired the Star Bits in the Super Mario Galaxy games. Its various colorful cores are similar to the many colors of these sweets. The fact that the color of Minior’s core is only revealed after its shell has been cracked is similar to many different types of wrapped candy and the common trend of toy-containing sweets in Japan. - Nintendo101 (talk) 00:52, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

I agree they look like Konpeitō Yamitora1 (talk) 10:32, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Core?

There's official artwork for its core. Shouldn't that be listed? Nutter Butter (talk) 01:08, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Minior core

Shouldn't we list Minior's core in the other languages section like we do on Oricorio since that is a form change? --Raltseye prata med mej 10:34, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Helllooo, if we should not include it, please, at least give me a reason. --Raltseye prata med mej 05:26, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Genderless

As shown in the Japanese video, Minior is a Genderless Pokemon. Mettie7 (talk) 01:41, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

More core sprites

Shouldn't we have a sprite for each core color? sumwun (talk) 03:46, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

I believe the staff have determined that Pokemon with too many forms don't get their forms in the sprites section (see also, for example, Furfrou and Vivillon), but I don't know the exact number where it cuts off, nor can I find where that determination was made (at least, I can't find it on a quick search of the pages that are relevant off the top of my head). Rotom is the max. Rotom's forms actually make a difference. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:57, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

Trivia

I was looking through the page and noticed that minior's core has 7 forms (not counting shiny) and all represent a color from the rainbow, this currently isn't in the trivia section, should it be added?RoyGuyManDude (talk) 16:46, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

If its something you can tell just by looking at the page, its usually not worth a spot in trivia. We try to limit that to info that takes a little more effort to find. Crystal Talian 16:51, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
It's already in the origins section anyway.--ForceFire 17:25, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

Does a shiny Minior have coloured cores?

Standard Minior have seven coloured forms, but there is only one shiny colour listed (black). Do they all look like this, maybe with some variation(s)? If there is only one shiny form for all cores, does it still have a specified core colour (red, green, etc)? Whatever the answer, I think this could/should be added to the trivia section. Different Cores and Shinies

Minior has Shinies for all the cores, should they be added to the sprites? see them here: https://github.com/msikma/pokesprite/issues/73
