Tsareena (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Tsareena appears to be based on a {{wp|mangosteen}} and a female {{wp|monarch}}, such as a queen. It may also be a reference to the mangosteen being known as the "Queen of Fruit". It may also be based on a dominatrix, a woman who takes the dominant role in BDSM activities; it evolves from Steenee after it learns {{m|Stomp}}, its moveset includes moves such as {{m|Punishment}} and {{m|Power Whip}}, and its appearance gives it the impression of wearing long boots, all of which are associated with BDSM in some fashion. Its [[:Category:Female-only Pokémon|gender ratio]] may be a reference to mangosteen trees, of which all known specimens are female.

Amajo may be a combination of 甘い ''amai'' (sweet) and 女王 ''joō'' (queen, also Japanese slang for dominatrix).
