The current wording of the effect is a bit ambiguous. "False Swipe inflicts damage, but will leave the target with 1 HP if it would otherwise cause it to faint... If used against a substitute, False Swipe is able to break it and will not leave the substitute with 1 HP." | The current wording of the effect is a bit ambiguous. Does False Swipe deal reduced damage against a Substitute if the target has less health than False Swipe would do? Such as if False Swipe could do 50%, but the target has 20% left, would False Swipe do 20% (the amount that would KO the target) or enough to break the Substitute (since no hit would actually KO the target due to being intercepted by the Sub)? I suspect the first, but haven't been able to confirm. | Does False Swipe deal reduced damage against a Substitute if the target has less health than False Swipe would do? :False Swipe can destroy a substitute, but, unless the user can make the move bypass Substitute (like with Infiltrator), the move will never hit the Pokémon behind the substitute. --Bfdifan2006 (talk | contribs) 08:50, 1 May 2024 (UTC) |
