 Johnny had trouble with Sceptile as Sceptile kept on using {{m|Detect}} and its speed to dodge his Aggron's {{m|Metal Claw}}. This caused Aggron to get tired out. Johnny had Aggron use {{m|Harden}} which gave Sceptile a chance to go for {{m|Solar Beam}}. Johnny saw this as an opportunity to finish Sceptile off by having Aggron use Metal Claw but Sceptile's Solar Beam finished charging and unleashed it at Aggron, defeating it. Tyson's victory allowed him to move on to the next round while Johnny was eliminated from the tournament.
