Illuminate had no effect during battle until {{g|Scarlet and Violet|s}}. As of Version 1.3.2, it prevents the Pokémon's Accuracy from being lowered.
Illuminate has no effect in battle, however in version 1.3.2 of {{g|Scarlet and Violet}}, the text description was changed to "By illuminating its surroundings, the Pokémon prevents its [[accuracy]] from being lowered.", despite the ability still having no effect in battle. It's currently unknown whether the lack of effect is an error, or if it will be added in a future update when a Pokémon with Illuminate is available in Scarlet and Violet.
