* When the game is launched, the system's current country/region settings are read. These values are used for the following features:

** When a Pokémon is caught in the wild, hatched from an {{pkmn|Egg}}, received as a {{pkmn2|gift}}, received via [[Mystery Gift]], or transferred using [[Poké Transporter]], the system's country/region settings are stored in the Pokémon data structure.

** When the player participates in a [[Wonder Trade]], both players' country/region settings are shown to each other before the trade.

** When the player participates in a battle at the [[Battle Spot]] or in a [[Live Competition]], both players' country/region settings are shown to each other before the battle, and each player's country may be displayed during the battle under the '''Location''' (Japanese: '''{{tt|住|す}}んでいる　{{tt|場所|ばしょ}}''' ''Place of Residence'') header.

** The Modern and Savanna Patterns are exclusive to the U region.

** The Garden, Meadow, and River Patterns are exclusive to the E region.
