This card was first released in each of the Japanese {{TCG|V Starter Sets}}. The English print was first released in the {{TCG|Sword & Shield}} expansion as a Holofoil, along with {{TCG|Full Art card|Full Art}} and {{TCG|Secret card|Secret}} Rainbow Rare prints. The Regular print features artwork by [[Yusuke Ohmura]], while the Full Art and Secret prints feature artwork by [[kirisAki]]. All three Sword & Shield prints originate from the Japanese {{TCG|Sword}} expansion. Non Holofoil versions of the Regular print were included in the {{TCG|Sword & Shield Build & Battle Box|Sword & Shield}} and {{TCG|Rebel Clash Build & Battle Box}}es as well as every Theme Deck of the [[Theme Deck#Sword & Shield Series|Sword & Shield Series]].

In Japan, the Regular print was reprinted as a Non Holofoil in the {{TCG|Sword & Shield Premium Trainer Box}}, in the {{TCG|Charizard & Grimmsnarl VMAX Starter Sets}}, and in each of the {{TCG|V Starter Decks}}. A {{TCG|S-P Promotional cards|S-P Promotional}} print was also awarded to players who had accumulated at least one Championship Point over the course of the 2019-2020 season, which was curtailed due to the [[COVID-19 pandemic]]. Eligible events included the Tokyo and Aichi 2020 Champion's League tournaments plus City Leagues, Trainer's Leagues, and Station Leagues that were completed before restrictions were introduced. Copies of this print began to be distributed in mid-September 2020. The Regular print was reprinted as a Holofoil in the {{TCG|Champion's Path}} expansion and in the Japanese {{TCG|Shiny Star V}} subset, and again as a Non Holofoil in the Japanese {{TCG|Single Strike & Rapid Strike Premium Trainer Boxes}} and {{TCG|Sword & Shield Family Pokémon Card Game}} set. A new print with artwork by [[Hideki Ishikawa]] featuring Professor Juniper was included in the {{TCG|Shining Fates}} expansion, first released in the Japanese {{TCG|Venusaur & Blastoise VMAX Starter Sets}}. This print also replaced the Professor Magnolia artwork print in a second version of the Charizard VMAX Starter Set from the {{TCGMerch|Sword & Shield|Era|VMAX Battle Triple Starter Set}}. Holofoil versions of the Professor Juniper print were also included in the {{TCG|V Battle Deck—Victini vs Gardevoir}} and in both of the Japanese {{TCG|High-Class Decks}}.

Another new print with artwork by [[Yusuke Kozaki]] featuring Professor Willow was released in the summer of 2021 around the world as part of a promotion to celebrate Pokémon GO's fifth anniversary, the 25th anniversary of the Trading Card Game, and as the first collaboration between Pokémon GO and the TCG. The {{TCG|Sword & Shield}} prints feature [[Professor Magnolia]], the resident [[Pokémon Professor]] of the [[Galar]] region, the {{TCG|Shining Fates}} print features [[Professor Juniper]], the resident Pokémon Professor of the [[Unova]] region, and the {{TCG|SWSH Black Star Promos|SWSH Black Star Promo}} print features [[Professor Willow]], the Pokémon Professor in [[Pokémon GO]], and {{p|Meltan}}, which was first discovered in Pokémon GO. The exterior of Professor Magnolia's {{DL|Wedgehurst|Pokémon Research Lab|laboratory}} is featured in the Sword & Shield Regular print's illustration, while the interior is featured in the {{TCG|Full Art card|Full Art}} print's illustration. The interior of Professor Juniper's {{DL|Nuvema Town|Juniper Pokémon Lab|laboratory}} is featured in the Shining Fates print's illustration.
