'''Neo Genesis''' is the name given to the first main expansion of the ''Neo Series'' of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. In Japan, it was released as '''Gold, Silver, to a New World...''', the second expansion in the Pokémon Card Game Neo Era. It is based on [[Pokémon Gold and Silver]], featuring [[Generation II]] Pokémon. The English expansion was released on December 16, 2000, while the Japanese expansion was released on December 10, 1999.

Neo Genesis was the first expansion to feature {{TCG|Darkness}} and {{TCG|Metal}}-type Pokémon, [[Baby Pokémon]] and {{TCG|Pokémon Tool}}s (Trainer cards that could be permanently attached to Pokémon in play as a reference to Generation II's [[Held item]] mechanic). Neo Genesis also introduced an updated card design in which the Evolution box was changed to a circular design, HP was changed to black text instead of red, the Evolution Stage was displayed below the HP and the Weakness and Resistance have a background graphic.

{{TCG ID|Neo Genesis|Moo-Moo Milk|101}} feature different illustration in the English and Japanese prints. The Japanese print depicts a Sentret suckling on a cow-like udder, which prompted a change for releases outside Japan as it was considered inappropriate for the TCG's primary audience.

===Japanese cards===

The original Japanese print run had several text errors including missing damage values and misleading attack descriptions. At some point a print run was made to correct these errors, but it's not certain when this happened or how the corrections were distributed. What is known is that in Spring 2001, over a year after the original Japanese release, a second distribution occurred. From the front, booster packs from the first distribution are indistinguishable from those of the second distribution, but on the back the EAN-13 code and ST product certification are different, with the original having an EAN-13 of "4935228 98512 8" and ST of "9" (1999) and the second release having an EAN-13 of "4521329 00794 6" and ST of "1" (2001).
