Roark started the fight by having Rampardos repeatedly using {{m|Zen Headbutt}}, which was counted by Bastiodon's {{m|Iron Defense}}. Bastiodon then went on the offense and used {{m|Flamethrower}}, which was dodged. Rampardos attacked with a powerful {{m|Head Smash}}, which Bastiodon combatted with {{m|Iron Head}}. Wanting to end the battle quickly Ash has Chimchar use Flamethrower. Bastiodon stands its ground and uses Iron Defense to handle the attack and then uses Metal Burst to send the damage back, knocking Chimchar out. It next faces his {{TP|Ash|Gliscor}}, who starts the battle with {{m|Steel Wing}} from behind, which Bastiodon counters with Iron Defense.
