That.... does not seem to match up with BP's MOS. If that were really true, we wouldn't be using the characters' English names. Besides, there was another character back in the Indigo saga whose gender got changed in the dub as well, and the article in question use female pronouns in accordance to the dub. The aforementioned character is [[Melissa]]. If anything, that instance points to BP's MOS as viewing the English dub as the ultimate canon (to match the main language this site is based on), and everything else as secondary with notes to specify what was changed from the original. --[[User:Sk8erPrince|Sk8erPrince]] ([[User talk:Sk8erPrince|talk]]) 01:51, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

:Could you point out where in the actual [[https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Bulbapedia:Manual_of_style Manual of Style]] there's this contradiction you speak of? Or [[https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Bulbapedia:Manual_of_style/Anime this one]]? As the Manual of Style says, dub names are an exception. We use the English names of characters to avoid confusion. We don't use Satoshi, Kasumi, Takeshi, etc. because most people who use Bulbapedia know them by their English names. As an extension of that we also use the English names of lesser known characters and locations, as a form of consistency.
:Before you bring up the consistency regarding this case: it is actually consistent with other pages. See [[Ash's Bulbasaur]], [[Ash's Charizard]], [[Ash's Squirtle]] and several other Pokémon pages for example. They were never given a proper gender in the orginal version, but were referred to as males in the dub. Their pages reflect this. Their gender is listed as unknown with a note that states they are male in the English dub, and genderneutral pronouns are used in the actual article. Now regarding Melissa, if you look closely you'll see the Pokémon section on that page is the only part of the article that uses female pronouns. The actual information section is neutral on the character's gender. I'd actually be in favour of staying neutral on the character's gender on the whole page, but that's a whole different issue better suited to be discussed on that talk page. ☼ Blazing[[User talk:Blazingfist|Fist ☼]] 08:39, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
