The {{chap|X & Y}}'s main quintet arrive at Santalune City in ''[[PAXY05|Kangaskhan...Kangascan't]]''. {{adv|Y}} draws up five rules for the group, but is interrupted by {{adv|Shauna}} before she says the fifth rule. [[Viola]] then shows up, introducing herself as the city's [[Gym Leader]], and offers to help the quintet with their search for answers, as she was in [[Vaniville Town]] at the time of the incident. Four of the quintet accept the offer; the one who doesn't is Shauna, who claims that her friends' actions violated one of the five rules, and walks away from the group in disgust. At the city's Gym, while {{adv|X}} agrees to a quick battle against Viola, {{adv|Tierno}} and {{adv|Trevor}} help Y decipher some clues from the photos Viola took at Vaniville. Y then excuses herself to look for Shauna, and returns to the Gym with Shauna moments after X wins his battle. | |||

Viola takes the hit for Y, and in the next moment, [[Celosia]] introduces herself to the quintet as the person who controlled Shauna all this time, before taking the Mega Stone and fleeing. X initially blames himself for the commotion but goes after Celosia, and is assisted by visiting Gym Leader [[Korrina]], who helps X retrieve Kanga's Mega Stone. X and Korrina then have their respective [[Mega Evolution|Mega-Evolved]] Pokémon defeat Celosia's {{p|Aegislash}}. Later, Shauna apologizes for not listening to Y's last rule: that each of the quintet must stay together at all times, and Y responds with her own apology.
