Ash later sent out Goodra as his last Pokémon to battle Clemont's last Pokémon, Clemont. At first, Goodra was at a disadvantage, since it was still paralyzed and Luxray had Electric Terrain active, making all of its Electric moves more powerful. However, upon remembering how Goomy had regained its energy when water was poured onto it, Ash had Goodra use Rain Dance, which both nullified Electric Terrain and activated Goodra's Hydration Ability, curing it from its paralysis. Luxray used Swift, which Goodra countered by using its tail to send the attack back. Luxray, however, dodged the reflected attack and went in for a Thunder Fang. Ash then did a risky choice and told Goodra to use Bide, forcing it to endure Luxray's attack. Clemont intended to defeat Goodra before Bide was finished charging, and told Luxray to attack with Wild Charge and Swift. However, these attacks were incapable of dealing enough damage to defeat Goodra, who then proceeded to release the gathered energy at Luxray, defeating the Gleam Eyes Pokémon and winning the Gym battle for Ash, thus earning him the Voltage.

In XY069, while eating food, Ash and his friends come across Kenzo who apparently cares for multiple Water-type Pokémon at Goodra's homeland. After remembering being attacked Goodra screams, it then reunites with it's long time friends including Wooper, though this alerts the bug Pokémon. After sometime Ash and his friends learn about how the place has been destroyed by bug Pokémon which apparently there was a Florges who was their leader. Suddenly Florges and her army comes back and attacks the Water Pokémon but Goodra steps right in front of them and protects them using Bide. Florges discovered that Goodra is infact Goomy who has evolved. Florges then decided to battle Goodra. Goodra falters initially but decides to fight after encouragement by Ash. Florges gets the advantage when she uses Grassy Terrain, Solar Beam and Moonblast, but after Ash encourages Goodra it learns how to use Ice Beam. Suddenly Goodra is hit by a Shadow Ball and Psybeam (coming from Jessie's Pumpkaboo and James's Inkay) and faints. Goodra then sleeps over the night in order to restore its strength but however, Florges saw this as a moment to take revenge, as she was being blackmailed by TRT with a Floette and she orders her Bug-type Army to capture Pikachu, Dedenne and Wooper.
In XY069, Ash and his friends come across Kenzo who apparently cares for multiple Water-type Pokémon in Goodra's homeland. Goodra became hesitant to return to its home, remembering being attacked by the Army of Bug Pokémon led by a Florges and being separated from its friend Wooper. However, Wooper and many other members of Goodra's old home encountered Goodra instead, allowing them to reunite. When the Pokémon are noted that Florges and her Bug Army are attacking more Pokémon, Goodra decides to intervene, motivating the other Pokémon to fight back and draw Florges out. Despite Florges recognizing Goodra as the Goomy she had once attacked, Goodra managed to overcome its fear and fight. Its Dragon Pulse attacks prove ineffective against the Fairy and Goodra is forced to defend its fellow Pokémon from Florges' Grassy Terrain enhanced Solar Beam and her Super-Effective Moonblast. Goodra eventually gets the Upper Hand due to Ash's encouragement,  learning Ice Beam in the process to win the Battle. Unfortunately in the Celebrations, Goodra is knocked out by a Shadow Ball and Psybeam (coming from Jessie's Pumpkaboo and James's Inkay that are hidden from view) forcing both sides to retreat and recuperate. While Goodra slept, Pikachu, Dedenne and Wooper were abducted by an Ariados under the orders of Florges, who has been blackmailed by TRT.
