Wally's name was on the statue. I believe this needs noting somehow, even if it's just as trivia, but I do not know when this begins to happen. Clearly, it's after the events in Mauville when he loses to you while trying to challenge Wattson, so the fact that his name appears on the statue at the Gym suggests he was there before the player. I'll have to get Alpha Sapphire to further research when his name begins to appear on the signs.
