The '''Bird''' type (Japanese: '''とりタイプ''' ''Bird type'') is a scrapped [[type]] in the [[Generation I]] and {{gen|II}} games. It is commonly speculated that it was replaced by the {{t|Flying}} type.

It is found on two [[glitch Pokémon]] in the Generation I games. Both of these Pokémon have two types and are in the same [[glitch Pokémon family]], sharing a [[Pokédex]] number of 000.

* In the English versions of {{game|FireRed and LeafGreen|s}}, the [[Gym guide]] of [[Vermilion Gym]] mistakenly refers to the {{t|Flying}} type as the Bird type. This is likely an oversight derived from his dialogue in the English versions of the [[Generation I]] games, where he instead refers to the {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} by their [[species]] instead of [[type]]s; in the Japanese versions, he mentions types instead, correctly identifying the Flying type as ひこうタイプ (the Bird type is とりタイプ in Japanese).

* In the [[Pokémon anime]], especially the [[4Kids Entertainment|4Kids]] dub, the {{t|Flying}} type is often mistakenly referred to as the Bird type. It is also mentioned in ''[[Song of Origin]]'', the Japanese ending for ''[[M08|Lucario and the Mystery of Mew]]'', along with a nonexistent Gas type.
