Before I begin with this, this might not be easy to replicate as I found this bug while playing Pokémon Platinum altered by the <span class="plainlinks">[http://pokehacks.dabomstew.com/randomizer/ UPRandomizer]</span>. While In Eterna Forest with Cheryl, one of the two wild Pokémon in a battle had Arena Trap. After defeating the one with ability, I tried to run from the remaining Pokémon, and I got a message saying "The wild Bad Egg prevents escape with Arena Trap!" While abilities and whatnot may have been randomized, the actual game mechanics are not, so I do feel this was a legitimate oversight with wild Double Battles. Basically, if one of the two wild Pokémon has or gains Arena Trap and is then defeated, the player still cannot flee the battle, and the aforementioned message is displayed.
