Legendary birds (Adventures): Difference between revisions

Prior to the creation of Thu-Fi-Zer, Team Rocket stole an [[Vee|Eevee]] in order to research the [[Eeveelution]]s, {{p|Vaporeon}}, {{p|Jolteon}}, and {{p|Flareon}}, which was a mere beta-test for this creature. To this end, Team Rocket captured Zapdos at the [[Power Plant]], Moltres at the [[Indigo Plateau]], and with its energy reserves spent on saving {{adv|Red}}'s [[Gyara]], Articuno had also been captured. With {{adv|Mewtwo}} on the run and its creator [[Blaine]] having defected, this experimental monstrosity was Team Rocket's trump card.

Red's [[Badge|Gym Badges]] triggered a fusion machine and created this {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} when [[Sabrina's Kadabra]] called upon Zapdos and Articuno to join Moltres in Sabrina's battle. Red tried battling Thu-Fi-Zer with his [[Saur|Ivysaur]] but the fused trio sent him flying out of the building with ease. Sabrina commanded it to attack Red as he served their purpose and could now die. Before it can do so, {{adv|Blue}} interferes with {{TP|Blue|Charizard}} only for the two to meet the same fate as Red and his Ivysaur. Red came up with a plan to defeat Thu-Fi-Zer which involves {{adv|Green}}'s {{p|Clefairy|Clefy}} to evolve into a {{p|Clefable}}. He does so with the use of a {{evostone|Moon Stone}} he'd obtained on [[Mt. Moon]]. After evolving, Clefy attacks Thu-Fi-Zer with {{m|Metronome}} which resulted in Clefy using {{m|Quick Attack}} to close in on the legendary bird, and then {{m|Comet Punch}}, {{m|Hyper Beam}} and {{m|Fury Attack}} on it in succession. Despite the damage that Thu-Fi-Zer took from this barrage, it was barely hurt and was able to send Red, Blue, and Green flying out of the Silph Co. building with a {{m|Sky Attack}}. 

It was about to destroy [[Saffron City]] until Red, Blue, and Green survived the fall with Saur's vine created web. Using their starter Pokémon, they battled with the beast and attacked with {{m|Vine Whip}}, {{m|Flamethrower}} and {{m|Hydro Pump}}, respectively. In the midst of combat, Red's call for it to attack caused Saur to evolve into a {{p|Venusaur}}, and now stronger than ever, it launched a {{m|SolarBeam}} and the three managed to defeat Thu-Fi-Zer. After being defeated, the three legendary birds separated to their original forms and left for the wild.  

Thu-Fi-Zer was proven to be unstoppable as it has the powers of the three legendary birds combined. This was proven as it was able to easily knock back {{adv|Red}}'s [[Saur|Ivysaur]] without suffering a scratch. Even Sabrina commented on how she wanted its power.

* In the English language version of [[Pokémon Adventures]], it does not have an official name. However, Coronis of [[Serebii.net]] coined the term Zapmolcuno, a portmanteau of the [[legendary birds]]' names; this reflects its Japanese name, '''サ・ファイ・ザー''' ''Thu-Fi-Zer'', a combination of the legendary birds' Japanese names {{tt|'''Thu'''nder|Zapdos}}, {{tt|'''Fi'''re|Moltres}}, and {{tt|Free'''zer'''|Articuno}}.
