Remakes also provide important role in the anime, such as FireRed and LeafGreen, where [[Ash]] and [[Ash's friends|his friends]] traveled back to Kanto, but with the alterations from other Generations, like the presence of Contests and the Battle Frontier.

In the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl series, while the main characters (aside of [[May]]) themselves didn't travel to Johto the anime counted with the presence of several hints for HeartGold and SoulSilver, such as: the presence of the Pokéathlon, the introduction of [[Lyra (anime)|Lyra]], and several main character Pokémon having a evolution or pre-evolution that belongs in the Johto dex, like [[Dawn's Aipom]], [[Ash's Gligar]], [[Dawn's Swinub]], and so on.
