 Not sure if you guys knew, but a gradient is possible, and we wouldn't need to have a somewhat low-quality gradient on the template, it's located in [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Gradient here, on Wikipedia].  :Back when I first coded that up, CSS3 was still only just coming about. There's still the issue that IE users and older browsers don't have support for gradients, but I think for the most part that can be worked around at this point.
