As Grampa came home, just having won a battle tournament at a festival, he was challenged to a battle by his wife [[Granny]] to settle quarrel they had earlier. Not having a lot of confidence in Granny's battling skills, he accepted the battle. For the battle, Grampa chose to battle with his {{p|Delphox}}, while Granny chose to battle with a {{TP|Clemont|Chespin}} she had found sleeping on their doorstep earlier.  

During the battle, Delphox had no trouble with Chespin, due to the type advantage but also because Chespin had eaten too much of Granny's macarons earlier. Just as Delphox's {{m|Flamethrower}} was about to hit Chespin, {{an|Clemont}} jumped in front of it. Grampa quickly ordered Delphox to stop its attack. Clemont then explained how the Chespin actually belonged to him and that it had ran off. Grampa now concluded he had won the battle, since Chespin wasn't officially Granny's Pokémon, but Chespin still wanted to continue battling. Clemont then asked Granny to take over the battle with Grampa, to which she agreed.

By constantly rolling and evading Delphox's attacks, Chespin became fitter and lost the weight it had gained from eating macarons earlier. It was now able to keep up with Delphox, although another Flamethrower from Delphox hurt it badly. Right at that moment, Chespin's [[Ability]] {{a|Overgrow}} activated and with this new power it managed to hit Delphox hard. Just as Grampa ordered Delphox to use {{m|Mystical Fire}}, Grampa fell down due to back prolems. The battle was then called off and it was declared a draw.  

Inside their house, Grampa explained what had caused the quarrel between him and Granny in the first place: Grampa had made comments to Granny how he wanted her to lose some weight. This offended her, and she had taken away his dinner. To make up for his comments, Grampa had bought a cake. Accepting his apologies, Granny proposed to {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} to eat the cake together. Grampa and Granny then said their farewells to the group as they continued on their way.

|desc={{p|Delphox}} is Grampa's only known Pokémon. It was sent out to battle {{TP|Clemont|Chespin}} in a battle to settle a quarrel with [[Granny]]. Initially, Delphox clearly had the advantage in the battle, due to the type advantage, but also due to Chespin having eaten too much of Granny's macarons before. Just as Delphox was about to hit Chespin with Flamethrower, {{an|Clemont}} jumped in front. As Clemont explained to Granny the Chespin was actually his, the battle resumed with Clemont battling instead of Granny.

Clemont was able to reduce the weight Chespin had gained from eating too much macarons by dodging Delphox's attack with rolling. Chespin was now able to keep up with Delphox, although it was badly hurt by one of its Flamethrowers. At that moment, Chespin's [[Ability]] {{a|Overgrow}} activated, and Chespin gained the upperhand, hitting Delphox hard with its strengthened attacks. Grampa then ordered Delphox to use Mystical Fire, but right as Delphox was about to execute the move, Grampa fell to the ground due to hurting his back. The battle was then called off and was declared a draw.
