== Alola to Hawaii comparisons ==
Hello! I felt like posting here would be better to explain most of the Hawaii cultural references being presented in Sun and Moon's locations.
So yes, every island has a color associated with them. I think the earliest traces of this scheme is back in the 1970s during the revitalization of the Hawaiian culture, so its more of a modern thing than something from ancient Hawaii. But you can ask anyone who has attended school here in the past 30 years and it is safe to say that it is very common knowledge, especially with young elementary schoolers. Every island has a Lei that is used to represent that island. In turn, the colors of that Lei are used to represent the island as well. Here's a list of the major Islands with their Lei and associated colors:
*{{wp|Hawaii (island)|Big Island}} - {{wp|Metrosideros polymorpha|ōhiʻa lehua}} - ʻUlaʻula (red)
*{{wp|Maui}} - {{wp|Rosa × damascena|lokelani/roselani}} - ʻĀkala (Pink)
*{{wp|Oahu|Oʻahu}} - {{wp|Sida fallax|'Ilima}} - Melemele (Yellow)
*{{wp|Kauai|Kauaʻi}} - {{wp|Melicope|Mokihana}} - Poni (Purple)
The other four island not mentioned above also have lei and colors associated with them. I say lei and not flowers since Moloka'i and Ni'ihau's leis are not flower leis. Moloka'i's lei is prominently a vine with leaves rather than the flowers and Ni'ihau's lei is a shell necklace. In terms of finding most of the Hawaii geographical and cultural references/names, I have a pretty good grasp of most of them since I speak Hawaiian and I've lived here all my life.—[[User:Naui|Naui]] ([[User talk:Naui|talk]]) 22:48, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
