'''Tyson''' (Japanese: '''テツヤ''' ''Tetsuya'') is a [[Pokémon Trainer]] from [[Mauville City]] who became the champion of the [[Ever Grande Conference]]. He appeared between the episodes ''[[AG125|Like a Meowth to a Flame]]'' and ''[[AG130|Choose It or Lose It!]]''.

Tyson first appeared in ''[[AG125|Like a Meowth to a Flame]]''. He used his {{TP|Tyson|Meowth}} to rescue {{Ash}} and {{Ashfr|his friends}} from a flock of {{p|Murkrow}}, and they quickly became friends; as it turned out, they had all been heading to the same place to eat. Tyson also has a certain fondness for food like {{an|May}}.

Ash and his friends later caught up with him talking to [[Charles Goodshow|Mr. Goodshow]], where he found out that Ash and Brock were also torch-runners [[EP074|in the past]]. Later, he helped in recovering the stolen flames of {{p|Moltres}}. He used his {{p|Metagross}} and its {{m|Confusion}} to stop [[Team Rocket trio|Team Rocket]]'s balloon. He also used his Meowth's {{m|Thunderbolt}} to send them away.

He was shown to be a powerful {{pkmn|Trainer}} and, with his {{TP|Tyson|Meowth}}, he was able to make it into the top eight before {{pkmn|battle|battling}} Ash in ''[[AG130|Choose It or Lose It!]]'' and ''[[AG131|At the End of the Fray]]''. Tyson won the match and soon made it to the finals, winning it and becoming the winner of the tournament and getting the chance to battle the Hoenn [[Elite Four]].

In the [[AG131|next episode]], Donphan lost to [[Ash's Swellow]] after being launched into the ground. However, it managed to hit Swellow multiple times using {{m|Rollout}}.
