about name origin

I think I found the choro part's ethymology. ちょろまかす choromakasu means to pilfer, to filch, to make off with, which fits the stealing nature explained in the pokédex entry very well. The neko part of the name is obvious of course. キーリー 00:21, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I was thinking it meant "black cat" since everyone knows "neko" is cat in Japanese. --*Ɣℯ№ӎօṫհ* 21:37, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
I think the choro comes from ちょろちょろ, which means in trickles. Searching google, I've found many cats named/qualified as ちょろ because of their fur having some spots with diferent color. Blow 02:50, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Trivia

  • Choroneko and Poochyena are the only Pokémon that can be found normally on the first accessible route of a main region that are not Normal, Flying or Bug-type Pokémon.

Choroneko can't be found on Route 1. I am Darth Mewtwo... Fear me, and my team made entirely of Mewtwo!!! 19:47, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

    • Contrary to its Pokédex description, Purrloin does not learn Covet or Thief by level-up; it can only learn them through breeding or TM.

Female Criminal

It may also be based on a sexy female criminal who seduces men due to being a Dark type, it Pokedex entry, and it's appearance (on it's torso, the cream coloration resembles skin and the purple coloration resemble a dress and gloves.Bennell 13:33, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Bipedal is canon

So Purrloin's model in Pokemon XY has it standing up-right. It's not just the anime and a spin-off game that had it standing, so I'm pretty sure that means something significant. I'd edit it myself, but I don't want to mess anything up. DynamoDuskull (talk) 12:56, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
