Is it possible the kanji don't translate to Mumarji, but rather, Mumaji? Mumarji doesn't make much sense, and Mumaji could be adding "magi" (the plural form of the word "magus" which was then translated as "mage" somewhere down the line? It would also make more sense if it was a mix of Muma and Magic, since there's no r in magic. It could also thus be a mix of "majin" or devil. Finally, when I ran the kanji through Google Translate (yes, I know, not reliable, but where did Mumarji come from? Is there a source for that translation that I missed?) it translated it to "

Update: I saw the...I'm not even sure what it is, but, are we sure that thing is official? It looks more like some fanart, which is probably mistranslated. Even the note when hovering over the kanji says Muumāji.

Update 2: Huh, so it's just the quality, and it's an official page of a manga. Guessing one of the Colored Scroll ones? Well, now I know.--MiasmicSiren (talk) 06:36, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
:The official romanizations are used fairly universally. The Worlds 2012 Battle Dictionary contains the official romanizations for every Pokémon that exists in Generation V (except Mythical Pokémon introduced in Generation V), if you're ever uncertain about whether a particular romanization is official.
:Google Translate will only ever give you the Hepburn romanization (in the transliteration section) and possibly some kind of guess at a translation (which is not what we're interested in here). The official romanizations are chosen by The Pokémon Company to reflect the etymology of the Pokémon names. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 07:35, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
