Category?
Does anyone think that this page should be only a category?! Also, the pages for recurring Pokémon should be made in a User page instead of being put here, and therefore, the sections of recurring Pokémon that are already in this page but don't have a full article yet should be put in someone's user page til they're finished. :Not every Pokémon featured in this article has enough content to justify an article. ==Mallow's Shaymin?==
Should Shaymin at this point be considered an unofficial capture under Mallow like Ash's Larvitar or Misty's Togetic? While it's not officially caught in a ball, Shaymin seems as blatantly allocated to a trainer as such examples, representing Mallow in events such as the league and following her commands, something most wild or accompanying Pokemon don't regularly do.Psi001 (talk) 21:50, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
:I wholeheartedly agree. I think the time has come for Shaymin to have an article of its own. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 00:43, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
::Even though it hasn't done anything? Best we have is five seconds in a league and an episode where it ran around.--Rahl (talk) 00:49, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
:::My point is more directly whether Shaymin counts as an unofficial capture as mentioned. Several captures have their own articles despite doing minimal in the long run (Sandy at this point has mostly only had the same relevance as Shaymin). With that said relevance isn't based on quality. Despite being mostly offscreen, Shaymin still qualified Mallow into one round of the league and did some other activities with her such as the TV show role, helping in Oranguru's bar, and healing the other Pokemon when they were injured. They weren't exactly frequent or deep in execution but they still count as involvement.Psi001 (talk) 01:37, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
::::Sure, but for a wild Pokémon it hasn't been nearly enough, not to mention it doesn't seem like Mallow's, just something that's following her around for a short time. From the getgo they said its not staying.--Rahl (talk) 01:44, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
:::::Shaymin's had a couple of major roles in episodes. It went on a search for Mallow's hair ornament in SM117 and it was used in the Manalo Conference in SM129. I'd say it did things. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 02:22, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
::::::I think a good comparison would be with Ash's Haunter. Both Shaymin and Haunter have been in a small amount of episodes, both only travel with their trainers, and both helped their trainers win a big match. Haunter gets a page because it was the focus in both episodes it appeared in. However, I think not giving Shaymin a page is doing a disservice to it, as it shows up as a result of a pivotal moment in Mallow's development. Iml908 (talk) 02:41, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
indentBut it only has those two episodes, and the league was basically a cameo. Compare that to Haunter, which was the main focus of the episodes it appeared in and actually effected the plot. Shaymin wasn't a part of Mallow's development, it just showed up afterwards. The thing hasn't done enough to be worthy of a page.--Rahl (talk) 03:16, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
:Well, I'd beg to disagree. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 03:53, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
::Look at Shaymin's section. It has about as much information as the recurring Passimian and even less than the Meltan. Are they deserving of a page too because they have a few paragraphs of text?--Rahl (talk) 04:17, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
:::Per notability requirements: Recurring wild Pokémon may only receive articles if they had a significant impact on the plot AND appeared in at least three episodes. An example of this would be the Snubbull/Granbull that followed Team Rocket around, and the Jigglypuff that followed around Ash and his friends. All others should have a section on the recurring wild Pokémon in the anime article.
:::Shaymin has not had a significant (i.e. relevant to the plot, retrieving a hair ornament is not significant) impact on an episode. Simply appearing is not a criteria for notability. It has to do something. Shaymin is not notable for an article.--<span style="color:#EBC600">F</span><span style="color:#EBC600">orce</span><span style="color:#D8B600">F</span><span style="color:#D8B600">ire</span> 05:37, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
::::Just to let members know if Shaymin does become notable enough for its own page, we do have a page that is being worked on.--BigDocFan (talk) 09:25, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
:::::Truthfully, my query was not over whether Shaymin was relevant enough to deserve its own page and more concerning whether its links to Mallow warrant it having a redirect (ie. from "Shaymin (anime)" to "Mallow's Shaymin") like some other unofficial captures have done in the past. Shaymin doesn't feel much different from Misty's Togetic and Ash's Poipole, in that in spite of only being with the trainer on temporary grounds, and even within that time not doing very much, it seems much more clearly located to that trainer than other accompanying wild Pokémon who are just sort of their own individual. It's clear that in many episodes Shaymin is there to take the role of a secondary Pokémon for Mallow and appear for her in scenes Tsareena wouldn't be so convenient, much like Sandy did for Lana as Popplio evolved. We've seen Shaymin represent Mallow in events and follow her commands and even take part in things like her "Z Move get!" shot like usually only other team Pokémon do, and just generally have a relationship like a trainer and Pokémon. Even if it's not a very active Pokémon, it feels like it maybe belongs in a different category.Psi001 (talk) 14:12, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
::::::The problem is that it is not her Pokémon. They've made it very clear she is just babysitting it until it flies away. Yes, it does have a relationship with Mallow, but unlike Togetic, who hatched into Misty's care and was with her for hundreds of episodes, or Poipole, who was put into a Poké Ball, Shaymin is simply here for the ride. And since it is just a wild Pokémon it does not meet any kind of notability for a page nor should it be linked as Mallow's Shaymin, as she doesn't own it.--Rahl (talk) 14:22, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
:::::::Brock's Vulpix was also just there for the ride, not truly being his, yet it is still called Brock's. Iml908 (talk) 15:39, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

Rotom Drone
Could Rotom Drone be a recurring wild Pokémon in the anime?
Or even create its own page as Rotom Phone, and adding information about the games and manga. --Daniel humberto (talk) 01:12, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
:We need some sort of confirmation that the Rotom Drone we keep seeing is in fact the same character across all the episodes instead of just individual Drones. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 22:27, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
::I guess it is like Don George or Nurse Joy, that there are a lot of individual characters, but we only have a page for them in general, matbe Rotom Drone could be one of them. Also, Rotom Phone has information about all Rotom phones that has been appearing in the anime. --Daniel humberto (talk) 05:10, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Ash’s Meltan
Why is it still needed in the Caught list when the extent of the entry is described in the Melmetal entry in its entirety? It acts as if it’s a completely separate entity when it no longer is. Honestly, I think the best solution is actually keeping the bullet, having it incorporate the entire Meltan clan into the bulleted entry, removing the section--KnightGalarie (talk) 22:12, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Naming conventions
As some of you may know, Adil/Sandbox#Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime soon. A few of these Pokémon will get their own articles and most of the others will go to 'in the anime' section of the respective species page. We have a good idea what we want the criteria for recurring Pokémon to be. One of the issues under discussion is the naming convention, and it's something we'd appreciate your input on. Currently, we have narrowed it down to this as our potential approach in the future:
Under normal circumstance, we will use "(anime)" in the title along with the Pokémon's name, provided that there is no ambiguity (further explained in the next paragraph). Among such articles, it would include:
* Lugia (anime), Lake Guardians (anime), Forces of Nature (anime), Meloetta (anime), Malamar (anime), Wooper (anime), Florges (anime), Guardian deities (anime), Bewear (anime), Stoutland (anime), Oranguru (anime), Light trio (anime), and Ultra Beasts (anime). The new ones that will be moved from this page will also be named accordingly, if they fit. However, a limitation of using (anime) in the title is that it implies that the article includes all characters of that species in the anime, when that is not the case here, since generally it'd only include a single character.
Where using '(anime)' is insufficient, i.e. when we have two or more notable characters of the same species in the anime, then the series name can be used for the respective article. If that doesn't work, i.e. they both appear within the same series, then the region's name can be used. Or is the order of preference, b/w series & region, the other way around? Someone on staff can hopefully correct me on this. For CotDs, we can use the epicode (see Carrie (XY092) for the sake of an example).
* The Weather trio in the anime is a good case for this. We Adil/Weather trio (anime) and as a single article, but that makes less sense since not all of them appeared in the same storyline. We want to group those Pokémon that were part of the same plot in an episode/set of episodes/arc together. For example, Kyogre and Groudon from Ruby and Sapphire series under one article as 'Kyogre and Groudon (Ruby & Sapphire series)', those that appeared in XY as 'Kyogre and Groudon (XY series)', and so on. We cannot name them based on regions, as all of them appeared in Hoenn. I guess one more possibility would be naming XY characters 'Primal Kyogre (Hoenn/anime)' and 'Primal Groudon (Hoenn/anime)', but yeah that's just a thought.
We are aware of the fact that both the region and the series naming conventions have limitations, if two very notable characters of the same species were to appear in the same region or the same series. Eventually, there will be some case where our pre-defined method won't work, and we'll have to come up with something new. Let us consider, if the Shaymin that appeared in DP168 was notable enough, it would have been confusing to call it both Shaymin (Sinnoh) or Shaymin (DP) because of the movie Shaymin (whose name wouldn't have been affected) who is from the same region and series. Anyway, that's just a possibility that may or may not occur in future. What we have mentioned above are the possible solutions that were brought up during our discussions.
We just wanted to be more transparent about this, so that there is less confusion as to why some articles are named one way and some are done differently. You're more than welcome to chime in and give your thoughts on this. Thank you.
