Gate Glitch Video
I noticed that there wasn't a Bulbapedia video for the Gate Glitch, so I have a video of the glitch at:

I hope you will use it! :)

Prevented progress
"Prevented progress:
If the player's starter Pokémon evolves before they obtain their Pokédex from Prof. Oak, the game will assume, since they have two Pokémon registered as caught, that they already have a Pokédex, and will not allow them to proceed.
This glitch was fixed in the Japanese Blue but it reappears in the Japanese Yellow."
Ok, I understand how in Pokémon Red and Green this can work, but this is impossible in Yellow, since in Yellow Pikachu can't evolve. So it's impossible to use this glitch. Anybody? --Dr. James <small>(tell me)</small> 00:47, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
:You can use this glitch by cheating to obtain a second Pokémon of another species. You don't even have to cheat to obtain the Pokémon itself since all that is required is the "walk through walls" cheat code to bypass the overworld collision data so that you can reach a Poké Mart and buy Poké Balls to catch another Pokémon. == Any Shiny ==
On YouTube, MissingnoXpert describes how to make any Pokemon shiny(trade from gen 2, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0QDZQhjxzY .) Should I add this?--SamurottMaster4747 (talk) 23:13, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
: That glitch is currently on Gen II's article. I don't think there's any point in mentioning it here, as it has no effect in the Gen I games. Yamiidenryuu (talk) 03:16, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Game breaking canoe glitch?
Canoe (0x07) or ????? is an item that you can get through item manipulation. If you attempt the surf glitch with the canoe using the pond in Viridian, and get off of it, the game will lock up. Any help? Katakanaglitch
:That sounds interesting regarding the lock up, but I tried the Surf glitch on both Red/Blue and Yellow on the Viridian City pond and it worked correctly, making me surf down on to a ground tile and letting me walk away afterwards. I used the ?????, too. Where exactly did you perform the Surf glitch? Can you send a screenshot?
:By the way, I don't know if you're aware, but canoe is misleading because it implies the name of the item is known, while it isn't. The number of question marks is likely irrelevant because there's another item with the same name (hex: 2C) that was probably a cut key item. --Chickasaurus (talk) 23:11, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Bind glitch
Ok so I just found a glitch in Pokémon Blue regarding the move Bind. When using Bind against a Ghost type Pokémon, it will not affect it, as Ghost is inmune to Normal type. But in subsequent turns, the game will act as if the move connected, and will trap the Pokémon, preventing it from moving, but without doing damage.
Should it be added? LinkNinjaMaster (talk) 05:13, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Surfing Pikachu vanishing
This seems like it's supposed to be under Yellow, since that's the only game where you can have a Pikachu onscreen. Also, can anyone give some insight on this "glitch"? There's not much detail on it. Flametix (talk) 00:25, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
Evolution stone glitch
Here's the basic mechanism of this bug:
*$CF91 is used by the evolution subroutine to hold the evolutionary stone ID argument.
*$CF91 is also used by the subroutine that loads Pokémon data to return the index number of the Pokémon that was loaded.
*The after battle evolution subroutine does not have any code to clear $CF91 or skip item evolutions and checks every Pokémon in the party for evolution conditions.
I'm not sure if or why leveling up is required. --FSX (talk) 20:59, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
Split
As you can see above, the reason "List of minor glitches" was deleted is because the definition of minor is subjective. Exactly how can the this page be split into "major" and "minor" glitches? --Abcboy (talk) 16:31, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
:I don't understand the confusion. "Major" glitches are those that affect gameplay in a significant manner such as data corruption and unexpected effects of moves in battles. As to "minor" glitches, they should probably be referred to as errors or oversights to make the distinction clearer. == Very important glitch! New studies could happen! ==
I have found a very obscure glitch that very few people know about that we could use to explore the 200+ special glitch Pokemon. I am not claiming to have discovered it, but it's pretty rare, so I'm like an artist in the Renaissance "discovering" Greek mythos. This is called the Remaining HP glitch, and I am providing a link to a video by a famous glitcher (famous relative to the dedicated glitching community, anyways), MissingnoXpert. I hope that this will help Project GlitchDex push to be the most comprehensive collection of glitch information for Gen I on the internet.

::Yes, and I felt that the article was incomplete. All it did was say, "Hey, this glitch is a thing that happens." I want to use this glitch to eventually further the 200+ glitch Pokemon, as they're very mysterious. Irtehmrepic (talk) 03:25, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

I'd like to add a glitch for Pokemon Tower in Yellow.
I was playing Yellow in Pokemon Tower and this happened. https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHlByU0nvQ
I don't remember how this happened, but I think Pikachu fainted & I stepped on the purity zone.
Unfortunately, I can't really get video for it, even if I were to duplicate it. Is there anyone willing to help me that can? Thanks. Unowninator (talk) 21:32, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
Update: Okay, so it does happen with the Purity Zone thing, I just tested it successfully, but when I did it again for miiverse pics, it had no results. I figured maybe it had to be on the same floor, but that doesn't appear to be it I just don't know. Should I add it anyway with a research tag? Unowninator (talk) 22:29, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
:Combine it with the Celadon Gym tree/Cut glitch and go ahead and add them as one glitch. (It's the same basic cause.) You can mention both methods and tag it for research on the exact requirements in Pokemon Tower. Tiddlywinks (talk) 22:53, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
::The Cut glitch? How's that related to this glitch? Also, I'd put one of my images there when I add it, but I still can't upload images yet. Could you please upload one from the 1st miiverse post for me? Unowninator (talk) 23:00, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
:::Is there a difference? I'm not really interested in glitches, so I don't know. Does Pikachu get stuck in one case but not in the other, or what?
:::For that matter, why does the trivia point about the glitch on Cut only mention Celadon Gym? There are plenty of trees, and the glitch (as described) isn't really at all complicated, so how is that place special (or is it, really)? Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:26, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
::::I don't mean to be rude (and I'm sorry if it comes out that way), but I think a better question is, "Is there a similarity?" because I just don't see a connection. As for the Celadon thing, it's the only place where a battle can occur next to a tree, as far as I know. Unowninator (talk) 00:26, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
:::::It loads Pikachu on top of something else. That's arguably the same basic thing. And for some reason, so far no one has (ever) mentioned that Pikachu can be positioned on top of a cut tree the same way the player can so that, if you save and reload, Pikachu is standing on top of a tree. Can you tell me: is that possible or not? Because when all you're saying is that it's possible at Celadon Gym after a battle&mdash;for some reason completely ignoring the normal save/reload Cut glitch&mdash;it makes it seem like the save/reload method isn't possible, like there must be some different reason Pikachu glitches on top of the tree after a battle in Celadon Gym. Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:59, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
::::::Okay, now I get where you're going with this. With the tree thing, it regrows whenever a battle ends or the game reloads. I assume that after a battle, it regrows the tree where Pikachu just so happens to be standing. But this glitch is just... different. I'll try to see if I can get this camera to work, but it's harder than recording a Smash Bros replay where I don't have to push the buttons during recording. I'll get back to you, hand on... Unowninator (talk) 01:35, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
:::::::For the sake of my sanity =P , can you please answer directly whether Pikachu can be glitched on top of a cut tree by save/reload? (I think I know the answer, but I really don't like the "I think" part.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:52, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
::::::::Finally, I now have [crappy] video of it. And yes, the cutsave happens with Pikachu. Unowninator (talk) 02:14, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
:::::::::There are crappier videos. =P That makes it much clearer than just the pictures did. Do you know how to reliably cause it, then? Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:06, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
::::::::::Unfortunately no, I don't. *thinks back* ... When I did the video successfully, I pushed (B) instead of (A), a bit quicker, and then moved immediately rather than delaying a second, so one theory is speed. Another guess I have is the number of steps I take from when Pikachu faints, but I don't know how I can possibly test that without Sweet Scent. I was actually hoping I could have a little help figuring it out.Unowninator (talk) 04:21, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
::::::::::Is figuring out the cause & requirements mandatory to add it? Or can I just put what little we know with a tag? Unowninator (talk) 16:20, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
:::::::::::You don't need to know the "cause" (internally), but it's definitely nice if it can be reproduced reliably. You've done it successfully at least twice, apparently. How much more have you tried it? How much have you failed or succeeded? Can you at least try to figure out a pretty reliable way to cause it (a way that will work more often than not)? In this sort of case, being overly specific would be better than being too generic. If there's one particular way that works always or most of the time for you, writing exactly that would be better than being too generic (even if another way can work, but is less reliable). Tiddlywinks (talk) 17:45, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
::::::::::::Okay, it seems Speed is the key; you got to move quickly. Well, I've never been great at Language Arts, so if I write it alone, chances are it's going to need to be redone. I wonder what we should call it? I'm thinking "Weird Pikachu Walk", but I feel like we could do better. Any ideas? Unowninator (talk) 18:11, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
:::::::::::::What you had before was better. I think maybe Pikachu follow delay glitch would be alright. (Titles use sentence case.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 18:24, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
:::::::::::::Oh, and (if you're alright with it) you could include your video too. Tiddlywinks (talk) 18:26, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Well, I just added it. I hope it's okay. Unowninator (talk) 19:37, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

Gate access restriction and cycling road access requirement bypassing
These look like the same glitch, in both cases someone is using the method mentioned on the page to get onto cycling road when they don't have a bicycle, just at different gates. Unless there's another gate not connected to cycling road that shouldn't require a bicycle but does? Or something else that makes the gate access restriction glitch distinct that isn't shown in the video? Megalorex (talk)
AI Glitch in Erika's Gym
When fighting any trainer in Erika's gym in Pokemon Blue, if the player's active Pokemon is Ivysaur and the opposing trainer's Pokemon knows Poison Powder, the opposing Pokemon will only use Poison Powder (which has no effect on Ivysaur) every turn until the player knocks it out. Presumably this also occurs with Bulbasaur and Venusaur; I have not tested with other grass or poison Pokemon, and have not yet tested in Red or Yellow. I'm guessing the AI is programmed to give poisoning the player's Pokemon a higher priority than any other move, and does not take into account if the target is immune. The decision may be affected by the Ivysaur's level. Thelonesoldier (talk) 18:08, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
:Poison is super effective against Grass (Ivysaur's Type 1). That's how the "smart" AI works in Gen 1 (most known example is Dragonair's Agility vs Poison and Psychic Pokémon). --Froggy25 (talk) 21:04, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

Yesterday I tried to fish in Cerulean Gym in Pokémon Yellow, and I succeeded. (See this picture in Chinese 52poké wiki.) == Ditto glitch ==
I noticed that neither the article nor the discussion mention this glitch. If the player follows certain procedures, the player can get a wild Pokemon of whatever species he/she wants. I don't know enough about the glitch to add a complete section, so I just wanted to make sure the people who read this page are aware of its existence. These are my sources. http://pokemondb.net/pokebase/277756/ditto-glitch-guide-help?show=277756#q277756 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_mMUZgeSNQ sumwun (talk) 20:04, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Rolling Kick
I remember playing Pokémon Red. I used Hitmonlee. I choose it to use Rolling Kick. But instead hitting the opponent, it use it against itself. Note that this is not because of confusion damage. MageMagius (talk) 11:11, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Battle glitches / Overworld glitches
If it's alright, I think at some point I'll create "List of battle glitches (Generation VIII)" and "List of battle glitches (Generation IX)" to complete the set of battle glitches pages. You know, like the ones that already exist: List of battle glitches (Generation I), List of battle glitches (Generation II), List of battle glitches (Generation III), etc.
In addition to that, a bunch of glitches in all generations are specifically about the overworld, so maybe we could also have a few pages like "List of overwold glitches (Generation IV)", "List of overwold glitches (Generation V)" and so on. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 03:43, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
