So let me go ahead and offer a third (or fourth or whatever) opinion. (For the record, this is about 29 minutes into the movie, right after Ash gets the first orb.) I read James' line like Gabe 2oo did: they're 25 years old. As to the idea that they're 5 years older than ''Ash'' (and company), I don't really see how you can rightly interpret James' line as referencing them; that simply doesn't make half so much sense as him contrasting to "the twerps are 10 years too early" (i.e., James is saying "and we're 5 years too late").
