'''Snowpoint City''' (Japanese: '''キッサキシティ''' ''Kissaki City'') is a snow-covered city located at the far north of [[Sinnoh]], where snow blows down from the top of [[Mt. Coronet]] causing low temperatures. Snowpoint City and the three routes that lead to it ({{rt|216|Sinnoh}}, {{rt|217|Sinnoh}} and [[Acuity Lakefront]]) are also completely covered in snow. To the northeast of Route 217, [[Lake Acuity]] can be found. A cave, which houses {{p|Uxie}}, is located in the middle of Lake Acuity. Given the snow which affects every battle on the two routes leading to the city, as well as the fact that to get to Route 216 from the rest of Sinnoh one must pass through [[Mt. Coronet]], the most convenient way to get to the city is to {{m|Fly}}. There is a port here in which the player can access the [[Fight Area]], but only after getting the [[National Pokédex]]. Its [[Snowpoint Temple|temple]] is home to the legendary Pokémon {{p|Regigigas}}. There is also a [[Move Tutor]] in Snowpoint in {{game3|Platinum|Pokémon Platinum}}.

Although Snowpoint City is not home to much, a noticeable landmark in the area is [[Snowpoint Temple]], which can only be accessed after the Sinnoh [[Elite Four]] have been beaten and the [[National Pokédex]] has been obtained. The temple contains five floors, with odd bits of slippery ice. At the very bottom of the temple lies a dormant Regigigas. To awaken this legendary Pokémon, the player must bring all three of the [[legendary golems]] along with them, which are all only available in the [[Generation III]] games. Through an event Regigigas, the legendary golems can also be obtained in {{v2|Platinum}} and will activate the in-game Regigigas.

Because of the location of the temple within a city, Regigigas is only the fifth legendary Pokémon that can be caught within city limits, the other four being {{p|Ho-Oh}} and {{p|Suicune}} in {{ci|Ecruteak}}'s [[Bell Tower]] during Generations {{Gen|II}} and {{Gen|IV}} and {{p|Kyogre}} and {{p|Groudon}} in [[Hoenn]]'s [[Cave of Origin]].

Snowpoint's north-easternmost house is home to the place where {{DL|Trendy phrase|Generation IV|trendy phrases}} are obtained. Every day, players can go to the farthest house in the northeast and receive a new trendy phrase. A trendy phrase is an additional phrase which can be used in interviews with [[non-player character]]s. It appears in the "Tough Words" category. There are thirty-two different possibilities, all obtainable from an elderly man in the northeasternmost house in the city. Only one may be obtained daily, and receiving a new trendy phrase will not alter any {{cat|game mechanics}}. They typically refer to {{wp|science}}, {{wp|business}} and {{wp|the arts}}.

In the north-westernmost house, a girl will [[list of in-game trades|trade]] a {{p|Haunter}} holding an {{evostone|Everstone}} (which prevents it from evolving into {{p|Gengar}}) for a {{p|Medicham}}. The Haunter is nicknamed "Gaspar" and the OT is "Mindy". The Haunter's ID number is 19248.

On January 10, 2008, [[Junichi Masuda]] posted a blog entry urging players to play their Diamond or Pearl on January 12. On that day, the same day as Masuda's birthday, a [[Weather conditions|weather effect]] called {{wp|diamond dust}} occurred in Snowpoint City, replacing the usual snow. It resembles glitter in the air. It is purely aesthetic, since it only occurs within the city where no battles are possible. It has been determined that other special weather conditions such as thunderstorms happen on predetermined days throughout the year. In {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}}, diamond dust can be seen in [[Mt. Silver]].

 

In {{game|Diamond}}, {{game|Pearl}}, and {{game|Platinum}} the population of Snowpoint City is 31. This is very noteworthy considering its northern location and isolation from other cities in Sinnoh.

On certain days, the player can challenge a Trainer who appears in the Pokémon Center. Depending on the game progress, the Trainer will have teams with higher leveled Pokémon upon rematch.

Snowpoint City was mentioned early on in the {{series|Diamond & Pearl}} of the [[Pokémon anime]]. It is the hometown of {{an|Dawn}}'s rival [[Zoey]], and {{an|May}} is known to have been there: her {{TP|May|Glaceon}} evolved in front of [[Ice Rock|a rock]] near the city. Like most cities in the anime, it is portrayed as larger than shown in the games.

[[Ash Ketchum]] and {{ashfr}} arrived in Snowpoint City in ''[[DP126|Classroom Training!]]'', where Ash intended to challenge Gym Leader Candice. Before their battle, Ash spent some time at the Snowpoint Trainers' School, where Candice teaches.

At the same time that Ash is in Snowpoint, his rival [[Paul]] is also there. Like Ash, he planned to challenge Candice for the Icicle Badge. [[Pyramid King Brandon]], of the {{Gdis|Battle Frontier|III}}, was also in Snowpoint at this time. He battles Paul in preparation for the Gym battle, but Paul is easily overcome by [[Brandon's legendary golems]].

[[DP129|After this battle]], it is discovered that [[J|Pokémon Hunter J]] has broken into [[Snowpoint Temple]] in an attempt to steal the {{p|Regigigas}} that lives there. The temple is nearly destroyed in the battle. After defeating J, Brandon promises to rebuild the temple and leave his three golems behind as protectors.

** It is also home to the northernmost point of access in the games - the entrance of Snowpoint Temple is very slightly north of the northernmost point that can be accessed in the [[Flower Paradise]].
