Sky Battle: Difference between revisions

Sky Battles first appeared in episode [[XY036]] of the anime. An expert Sky Trainer called [[Nami]] was seen defeating another Sky Trainer's {{p|Skarmory}} with her {{p|Talonflame}}. Later, {{Ash}} challenged Nami to a battle, wanting to use his {{p|Fletchling}} against Talonflame. Although Nami accepted the offer, Talonflame was shown being unwilling to battle against its pre-evolution, forcing Ash to use his {{AP|Hawlucha}} instead. Even through Hawlucha tried its best, it was defeated rather easily. After that, {{TRT}} showed up, trying to steal Talonflame, but were soon defeated. Afterwards, Talonflame, being thankful for Ash's Fletchling for saving it, accepted Fletchling's battle challenge. Even though Fletchling was almost defeated by Talonflame's {{m|Fire Blast}}, it evolved into a {{AP|Fletchinder}} and learned {{m|Flame Charge}} partway through the battle, allowing Ash to gain victory.

It is shown in the anime that during Sky Battles, Trainers take to the air using special suits so they can fly alongside their Pokémon. Unlike the games, in which certain flying-types or Pokémon with {{a|Levitate}} are restricted, Sky Battles appear to be open to any Pokémon which has the ability to fly (as both {{p|Hawlucha}} and {{p|Fletchling}} took part in one while they are disallowed in the games).
