Rono (Japanese: どらら Dorara) is an Aggron that Sapphire owns in Pokémon Adventures and her starter Pokémon. Rono was given to Sapphire by her father, Professor Birch. As of It All Ends Now VII, he is level 54.

Prior to the start of the series Sapphire recieved Rono as an Aron from her father, Professor Birch. He was present the day that Sapphire and Ruby were attacked by a Zinnia, but was not used to help fend it off. Rono first appeared at the end of Distracting Dustox, as one of the four Pokémon Sapphire started her journey with.
Rono debuted as an Aron in the end of Distracting Dustox, as one of the two Pokémon Sapphire started her journey with.

In Lombre Larceny, Rono was used to help rescue Mr. Stone's Castform from a water fountain. With his ability to chew through metal, Rono was able to eat enough of the fountain enough for Sapphire to rip it off and rescue the Castform.
In Lombre Larceny, Rono was used to help rescue Mr. Stone's Castform from a water fountain. With his ability to chew through metal, Rono was able to eat enough of the fountain for Sapphire to rip it off and rescue the Castform. It was soon revealed that Team Aqua was the reason Castform was trapped, and Rono and Chic were sent out to battle them. Both Rono and Chic defeated their Sharpedo and Carvanha, but took damage from their Ability Rough Skin. Due to the injury Rono was unable to take out Shelly's Ludicolo, but Chic was able to defeat it with help from Castform.

During Sapphire's Gym battle against Roxanne, Rono was used to battle the Gym Leader's Nosepass. Noticing that Rono was unable to defeat Nosepass, Sapphire attempted to switch with Chic, but couldn't due to Nosepass's Magnet Pull. Eventually, Sapphire has Rono defeat Nosepass by turning away from north and making it lose its balance.
In Blowing Past Nosepass I, Rono was used as Sapphire's first choice against Roxanne and her Roxanne. After exchanging an attack Sapphire declares that Nosepass is too strong and decides to switch, but is unable to. Roxanne points out that Nosepass has Magnet Pull and switching Rono out is impossible. Nosepass then attacks with a barrage of Rock Throws and attempts to finish him with Rock Slide. Roxanne declares the match over, but Rono climbs out of the rubble and attacks. Due to Nosepass being unable to face a different direction than north, it loses its balance when it turns around, allowing Rono to beat it and give Sapphire the victory.

After undergoing intensive training for Sapphire's second Gym battle in the Granite Cave, Rono evolved into Lairon. Later, he was used against Brawly's Brawly. Despite his newly-gained strength, Makuhita quickly countered his moments, defeating Rono and almost knocking him out.
In Mashing Makuhita, Sapphire trains Rono and Chic at Granite Cave in order to prepare for her Gym battle against Brawly. After training for most of the day the two evolve into Lairon and Combusken. Sapphire then goes to Brawly and begins their battle. During the battle Rono is sent out against his Hariyama and immediately attacks with Metal Claw and Iron Tail. Using its Jū fighting style, Makuhita easily defeats Rono, and Sapphire recalls him just in time.

In Bubble Bubble Toil and Azumarill II, Rono is used to battle against Aqua Admin in a flooded cable car. Matt sends his Sharpedo in to finish Sapphire off and Rono jumps in the way and uses Iron Defense, breaking Sharpedo's teeth. While distracted Sapphire takes the teeth and pierces the glass, removing the water. With the water gone Rono smashes into them with Take Down and sends them flying.

During Sapphire's training battle against Winona, Rono—along with Troppy and Phado—was used to battle Winona's Pokémon. Together, the three easily beat Winona's team, earning Sapphire the Feather.
In Master Class with Masquerain, Rono, alongside Troppy and Donphan, were used in Sapphire's battle against Winona and her Masquerain, Swablu, and Beautifly. Although Winona's Pokémon prove tough, Sapphire manages to defeat her, earning the Feather Badge.

During Sapphire and Ruby's training on Mirage Island, Rono became stronger and evolved into his final form, Aggron.
In The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon X, Rono, alongside Ruby and Sapphire's other Pokémon, are used to battle against Archie and Maxie. Rono was seen being pushed back by Archie's Walrein's Icy Wind.

In the Emerald, Rono was used against Dome Ace's Salamence in the Battle Frontier (Generation III). The match went unseen, but Sapphire ended up losing the battle.
In With a Spoink in Your Step II, Rono evolved into Aggron during Sapphire's training on Mirage Island.

In Susceptible to Sceptile, Rono was used against Dome Ace's Salamence in the Battle Frontier (Generation III). The match went unseen, but Sapphire ended up losing the battle.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
In PAORAS12, Rono was used in a Double Battle alongside Gallade against Zinnia's Goodra and Salamence. The battle was stopped when Zinnia fled.
