Physiology
Baoappu is a primate-like, red-and-yellow Fire-type Pokémon. The proportion of its head and large ears are similar to that of Aipom, although the insides of its ears are orange with small points at the upper portions. The upper half of its head and the whorled scruff atop is red. Baoappu's eyes are oval-shaped, with large pupils, and the lower half of its face is yellow with a small, dot-like nose. Its upper body and its skinny forelimbs are also yellow, and its hands seem to have no fingers, aside from thumbs. Baoppu's lower body is red with small feet, and its wiry tail is tipped with an arrowhead-shaped feature.
Pansear is a simian, red-and-cream Pokémon. Its head is red with a whorled tuft on top. The tuft contains a flame, and can reach temperatures of 600 °F (300 °C). Pansear has oval eyes, a tiny nose, and large ears with orange insides. Its muzzle, upper body, and skinny forelimbs are cream-colored, and its hands seem to have no fingers, aside from a thumb. Pansear's lower body is red with small feet, and its long tail has an arrowhead-shaped tip. Pansear makes its habitat in both forests and volcanic caves, and has been known to roast berries before eating them.

Evolution
Pansear evolves into Simisear.

Trivia
* Baoppu is one of three elemental monkeys. The other two are the Grass Yanappu and the Water Hiyappu.
* Pansear and its evolved form are the only non-first partner Pokémon that have Blaze as an Ability.
* Pansear, Pansage, and Panpour were all designed by Takao Unno.

Origin
Origin
Baoppu, along with his two contemporaries, seem to be based on the three wise monkeys motif. With its hand by its ear, Baoppu represents "Hear No Evil."
Pansear is based on a monkey, with the top of its head resembling a flame.

Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour were specifically created as partner Pokémon for Cilan, Chili and Cress, the Gym Leaders of Striaton Gym. As Striaton Gym doubles as a restaurant, these Pokémon were designed around cooking as a theme, and their hands were designed to resemble oven mitts. Additionally, Pansear, along with its two contemporaries, seems to be inspired by the three wise monkeys motif; with its hand by its ear, Pansear represents "hear no evil".

Name origin
Name origin
Baoppu's name may come from バースト bāsuto, meaning burst, and from ape.
Pansear may be a combination of Pan (the genus of chimpanzees), sear, ear (relating to the "three wise monkeys" motif), and pan searing.

Baoppu may be a combination of 爆 bào (Chinese for "to burst"; "to explode"), バースト bāsuto (burst), and ape.
