In the rock shelter behind the [[Tohjo Falls]], [[Misty]] gasps as {{adv|Suicune}} appears before her. Suicune immediately begins to attack, knocking {{TP|Misty|Starmie}} away with a {{m|Headbutt}}. Misty responds by calling out her {{p|Lanturn}} to use {{m|Hydro Pump}}. Suicune counters with its own Hydro Pump, blasting Misty and Lanturn into the waterfall. Suicune looks over the waterfall to see that Lanturn is keeping Misty afloat. Misty, with her proud declaration as an expert of the {{type|Water}}, accepts Suicune's challenge. | |||
On the [[Johto]] side of the falls, [[Brock]] and [[Erika]] are on the former's {{p|Onix}} looking for Misty. Erika receives a message on her [[Pokégear]] and finds out that a series of exhibition matches have been agreed between the Kanto and Johto [[Gym Leader]]s as part of the introduction to the upcoming [[Pokémon League]] tournament. Brock and Erika then see water being blasted out through the waterfall, and realize that Misty is having a battle.
