PI (Trainer class): Difference between revisions

This Trainer class was originally known as '''Gambler''' in Generation I. This was later changed to '''Gamer''' in {{game3|FireRed and LeafGreen|Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen|s}}, [[Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!|Let's Go, Pikachu!, and Let's Go, Eevee!]] to avoid gambling references. As a result, some jokes were lost, such as in FireRed and LeafGreen when Gamer Rich describes himself as a "rambling, gaming dude" instead of a "rambling, gambling dude."

In the English releases of [[Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Versions|Pokémon Diamond, Pearl]], [[Pokémon Platinum Version|Platinum]], [[Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl|Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl]], the Trainer class name was changed once again to '''PI''' ({{wp|private investigator}}), likely because of the trenchcoat's stereotypical association with detectives allowing for hiding the censorship, but all their dialogue still revolves around gambling.

In Japanese, this has been consistently known as '''ギャンブラー''' (''Gambler'') in all games where this Trainer class is present, despite the multiple name changes in English.
