{{p|Meloetta}} began following Ash and his friends in ''[[BW082|An Epic Defense Force!]]''. It is the first [[Mythical Pokémon]] to follow the group, although {{p|Victini}} did in [[M14]] and Celebi would have in a dropped storyline.

{{p|Malamar}} first appeared in ''[[XY019|A Conspiracy to Conquer!]]''. Unlike most [[wild Pokémon]], this Malamar is an independently evil being who conspires to change the face of [[Pokémon world|the world]]. It hypnotized an [[Officer Jenny]] who went to investigate at a radio observatory. As a result, she became Madame X. Together, the two went to a dark cave where {{TRT}} were and hypnotized them, save for {{MTR}}, who quickly slashed up his own face with {{m|Fury Swipes}}. With Team Rocket in tow, Malamar found the whereabouts of {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} by a tree. It took Pikachu with them and forced him to be under their control. By the time Ash, his friends, and Meowth arrived in the observation chamber of the radio observatory, Malamar cruelly took control of {{an|Clemont}}, {{an|Bonnie}}, and {{an|Serena}}. The [[List of Clemont's inventions|Automatic Pikachu Retrieving Device]] that Clemont built earlier entered the observatory and crashes into Malamar, breaking its control over everyone it hypnotized. Officer Jenny went back to normal and explained what happened. Malamar revealed that it tricked them into believing that Madame X was a real person and it was using her as its pawn. Malamar also revealed that Madame X's goal of taking over the world was a lie and hopes to reconstruct the world using a mind control machine. Angered at Malamar's lies and dishonesty, Ash, Officer Jenny, and the gang went after Malamar who led them to a room containing the system of great significance. Since everyone saw what Malamar was doing, it destroyed the weapon that it was building and fled.

{{p|Bewear}} made its debut in ''[[SM001|Alola to New Adventure!]]'', where it accidentally scared off {{Ash}} and {{AP|Pikachu}} while trying to greet the newcomers. In ''[[SM003|Loading the Dex!]]'', it met {{TRT}}, and took them to its den in the forest. Since then, it has apparently appointed itself as Team Rocket's caretaker while in [[Alola]], sharing its food with them and rescuing them when they are about to be defeated and [[blasting off|sent flying]].

In [[SM050]], [[Faba]] created an [[Ultra Wormhole]] using Nebby's power. After appearing in the [[Aether Foundation]] basement laboratories, Nihilego promptly knocked out Faba before reaching out for Lillie. However, she was protected by [[Lusamine]], who was captured instead and then taken through the Wormhole. After attaching itself to Lusamine, it started playing on her desires and reduced her mentality to that of a child's.

As such, when [[Gladion]], Ash and his friends came to save her in [[SM053]], she instead ran away, releasing her Pokémon enhanced by Nihilego's power as a deterrent. Nihilego also used various other means to deter the children, but in the end was cornered by Ash, Lillie and Gladion. When Lillie managed to get through to Lusamine, Nihilego interfered, trying to keep Lusamine to itself. In the end, Ash managed to defeat it using {{m|10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt}} in [[SM054]], allowing Lusamine to separate from it.
